Brady comes off of knee surgery and gets better every game. Has one bad game? We're doomed. No player should ever have a bad game.
He's still TFB and he's still working his way back.
We lost to a manic team who apparently shot their wad on that game and Brady lost in Denver. Yawn.

That was the 2003 Super Bowl year. Some of the doomsayers need to take a deep breath. 3-2 isn't that bad considering the level of competition and Brady's reorientation process.

I would take that this year as long as you told me that....
-Had a 1600 yd rusher in the backfield
-Had a proven tried n true Super Bowl defense in its prime.

I'm down about the result, but not overly worried. The good things are that there have been no REALLY bad performances (think Miami last year) or games where I thought we were completely out of it.
The things that will need to improve are the pass rush in situations where the other team isn't chasing the game (and therefore the D knows they have to pass) and the co-ordination between Brady and his receivers. They know it and it is obviously something they will continue to work on.
I am a lot less worried about the O line than I was this time last year. In particular, Koppen seems to be spending less time going backwards.
I think we will make the playoffs and be in the mix with everyone else. At this point, the teams to beat seem to be Denver, the Giants and Vikings. All look really good and I would worry about playing any of them.
2007 was a once-in-a-lifetime thing, something that defensive co-ordinators have now had two years to learn to defend against. It is unrealistic to expect a repeat of that.

Have you been sleeping through Colts highlights? - Because right now the Colts are probably the best team out there and that is WITHOUT Sanders who returns soon, they are winning pretty easily - The Saints are 2nd best and they will prove that by beating the Giants sunday.

My expectation was that the Pats would snare at least the #2 AFC playoff seed. So based on that, I'm somewhat worried. The coaching in their two road losses left a lot to be desired, on both sides of the ball. The first one (Jets) was excusable as it was the 2nd game of the year and the Pats were still ironing out gameplans. The second one (Broncos) came on the heels of two well-coached games in which it looked like the team found its groove coaching-wise. I wasn't expecting that kind of regression.
The Pats let that Denver game get away. Instead of being 4-1 with the tiebreaker over Denver and sitting right behind Indy with Cincy for that #2 seed, they are back in the pack. They'll separate from the pack, but maybe a game short of that key January bye. Last week's game might prove to be the difference.
"somewhat worried"
because after 17 pts in first half at Denver - then to be shut out in the second half - is definitely worrisome when we are playing our 5th game and supposedly getting better in all phases of the game.
because although the losses have been close - we haven't seized the moment and made the play that turned the game in our favor.
because the offense gets into situations where completing a key pass to Moss or Welker seems like it is next to impossible - whereas on the other side of things - the defense allows teams to pass themselves silly to every no name receiver in uniform, down the field and into the end zone.
"because" ah forget it.................
