Then they need to be checked for Alzheimer's. All I have in my mind is the 01–09 Brady, who tends to start slow, more often than not has good but not glamorous stats, and who kicks serious butt in the second half of the season.

I also have in my mind the fact that the Patriots' offense wasn't really a force of nature after week 10 or so of 2007. Once the rest of the league came to its senses, pass-pass-pass wasn't a piece-of-cake formula for success.

And, again, Brady isn't going to come out of such a huge injury and perform miracles in week 5.
I think on the screen passes and inside 10 yards he is as good and accurate as he has always been. Its the passes longer than 10 - 15 yards that he has stuggled compared to pre-injury.

Yes, without hesitation.

Sean, you know I love you buddy but your negativity tonight is killing me. I understand being frustrated after a loss, but you're taking it to another level.

The combined record of the teams the've lost to is 8-1. They lost to a team with the NFL's 4th ranked defense - and lost to a Broncos team that is second in the league defensively.

In other words - these aren't bad teams, and this is also a team that is still in transition both offensively and defensively. Yet they've still been in each of the two games they've lost right up until the end. Granted it's frustrated to lose - but to act like the sky is falling in week 5 is a bit much. You're better than that.

Did they have their chances to win today? Absolutely. But as I said in another thread they didn't lose to the Browns or Raiders today. This is a good football team that you're going to see in January.

It's O.K. to disagree with me, however, please do me a favor and re-evaluate each thread you start, and pretend that those in the media are reading what you write. You're a smart guy, and I think some of those threads may make you re-think what you post. Because you've gone a bit over the edge tonight with some of your them, and the board will be full of them in the coming days so if you can help us maintain an environment of insightful and analytical discussion that would be most helpful.

This thread is a bit precious isn't it. I'm sensitive to where the Patriots are at as a team and where TB12 is in his comeback, but the sheer fact is he is not immune from criticism and has played worse than better in the combined 5 games.

Tom Brady may not be 100%. But Tom Brady at 75% is still better that 90% of the QBs in the NFL.

Exactly. I'd rather have a guy who overthrows receivers than a guy who turns it over and consistantly throws interceptions and puts his teams in bad positions. He's no where near that level yet - and as I've said I think he'll certainly improve once he gets his feet back under him.

He's 3rd in the league in passing and he's thrown fewer picks than 22 other quarterbacks. Needless to say I don't think he's that bad at this point.

With all due respect, I think this is just wrong. From week 11 on we put up 56 points against the Bills, 31 against a pretty good (Top 10) Eagles defense, 27 on the Ravens (in Balt), 34 against the #1 defense in the league (Steelers), ONLY 20 against the Jets in a game with ridiculous winds, 28 against Miami (we did that in one half and then just cruised to a W), 38 against the Giants.

Then in the playoffs we faced 2 tough defensive teams (Jac and SD) and put up 31 and 21 respectively and had 1 bad game in the SB.

How could you call that "not a force of nature" when we were averaging exactly 30 points per game, while playing 5 games against top 10 defenses and another 2 against a defense that gives us problems (Giants), not to mention the fact that it was during a playoff race (for other teams) and every team was trying to be the one to prevent our undefeated season. In the last 8 years, do you know how many teams have averaged 30+ points in a season? Just 5 (2006 chargers, 2004 Colts, 2003/4 Chiefs, and 2001 Rams) other than the Pats in 07. Averaging 30 points a game at the end of the season and playoffs while facing tough defenses is unheard of.

This is the year. We put our failures in the past, it's a new year, a new defense. It's time to prove to the league that the Patriots are back and aren't going anywhere and they will be the last ones standing in Feb.
Update: Well that didn't work out as I had planned. Next year baby, next year 19-0 we go. Next year.

I agree, Brady hasnt been losing games for us. He just hasnt been winning them for us like we have been used to seeing. He will get back to the usual Tom Brady, just give it till after the bye.

I stand corrected. I still think the gist of my argument is valid. As for the playoffs, the San Diego game wasn't spectacular. Good enough, but not great. I'm not talking about which games were bad. I'm talking about which ones simply weren't great.

When criticism comes in the form of "Brady will never be the same," he sure as all hell is immune to it.

Week 1: We narrowly beat Buffalo. People worship Brady's last five minutes of play.
Week 2: We lose to the Jets. People flip out about Brady.
Week 3: We kill the Falcons. People calmly applaud Brady's improvement.
Week 4: We beat the Ravens. Reactions vary. Some people think Brady is the best thing since sliced bread.
Week 5: We lose to (ostensibly) the best defense in the league. The sky is falling.

BelichickFan, please name fifteen of the players listed below who you would take instead of Brady based on current play.

Peyton Manning

Ben Roethlisberger
Eli Manning
JaMarcus Russell
