Seems like he's still on the Jet payroll...and is doing his best to try to take down Belichik with all this.
He'll be as successful with that as he is in Cleveland.

To be fair to Edwards, he is a vertical WR who uses his size to make plays, and in Cleveland they couldn't protect to get the ball deep. With NY and in a better offense, he probably gets more opportunities to make plays.
UPDATE: Glazer reports there are two draft picks; Schefter says they're believed to be a third-round pick and a fifth-round pick.
FROM Profootballtalk, so take that for what its worth, but is sounds reasonable.
So Next year the Jets have three draft picks: 1st, 2nd, & a 6th
and If Lito plays enough to move his vaule to at least a thrid round pick (minimum on that trade was a 4th) then the Jets are going to have to send Philly or Cleveland a 2nd rd pick (or trade #2 to get another 3rd and keep their 4th).
At best they will enter the draft with 4 picks, at worst 2 picks, and they signed so many free agents that they will not get any comp picks. Good thing they have already won their Superbowl this year, because signing all those aging vetrans and trading away draft picks is a great way to build a team for the future!!!!
Tannebaum knows that he is toast if this team does not win in the next 2 years, so he is morgaging their future now, knowing that if it doesn't work out, the problem will not be his to fix.

If they really think he will be suspended then why bother unless its for something trivial like a 5th rounder. If he is suspended then you aren't getting him until like mid season and he still has to learn the offense and build timing with a rookie QB.
Who knows if or for how long he will be suspended. The amount the Jets appeared to have given up looks like they are looking at him for a long term answer since it could take him much of the season to get in tune with Sanchez and the offense at this point. Few WRs can get traded mid-season and pick up the offense right off the bat. Look how bad Roy Williams struggled for the Cowboys last year and he wasn't asked to be the Cowboys' #1 WR. Williams' numbers are similiar to Edwards' when he came to the Cowboys (actually slightly better). If you trade for a WR in season, it better be a long term investment or a bargain deal because there is no guarantees that he will be any good for you the year he is traded for since continuity with the QB and WR is so important.
I have a feeling Mangini WANTS to get fired. This just makes no sense to Brown. I know Edwards is a headcase but how can you expect to win any game when you trade away your best pass catching TE and now best WR? I mean its clearly good move for Jets(assuming Edwards somehow doesn't pull Plaxico Burress in NY). Although I think its about one year early for them to make this move.
Not that I like mangini, but edwards has had one good season in the league. They weren't winning with him, so they'll just continue doing what they've been doing.

The Jets help themselves a lot by packaging draft picks and second
string players to get good players (Edwards, Sanchez, Harris, Reviis).
Of course, they are lucky to have Mangini as a trading partner. Mangini
