Default Albert Breer: Patriots Warning - "We're Coming Together"

Patriots' Warning: 'We're Coming Together' by Albert Breer of the Sporting News
Quote:
"That was the difference in the game," Brady said. "We got it in three times, and they got it in twice."

As were the clutch plays that have become New England's custom. Plus, there was Clayton's drop at the end and a couple of questionable penalties along the way.

But there also was a fourth-and-1 converted from the Baltimore 3 to set up the Patriots' first touchdown. And a red-zone interception by Leigh Bodden—one of those newcomers—before the half to preserve a 17-7 lead. And a fourth-quarter fourth-down stop near midfield.

"We're coming together," said linebacker Gary Guyton, playing full-time now in Jerod Mayo's old spot. "It's an experience thing."

The offense figure to improve as Brady gets more and more comfortable and some of the new skill players settle in. The defense should improve as Mayo gets back and newcomers and young risers come together.

Veteran newcomer Shawn Springs says the Patriots have won on the fly partly because of high participation in the offseason program, and partly with "everybody buying in to the system and doing their job. That's how you do it."

Inexplicably, the Patriots keep doing it. And as they go on, it's get harder to stop that from happening.

From reading the quoted part, I think this guy should type his articles AFTER his morning coffee.

Funny how we were being buried after the Jets game.

C'mon Albert - why take sides here? The Ravens were saying there were questionable calls. The media should report it that way. Don't be stating it as fact. There were no questionable calls. There were some silly NFL rules being applied, but the interpretation by the refs was correct. Nothing questionable about it.

Playing Denver IN Denver is never easy. Particularly with the defense they are fielding this year. Just ask the Cowboys. I think we can win that game, but it's not gonna be easy, and we could just as easily lose it.

The Pats won't overlook a 4-0 team, but I wouldn't use Dallas as a measuring stick. Romo cannot hit an open receiver, the running backs are damaged, and the receivers cannot seem to get open without T.O. out there. Add to that sloppy play and a coach writing his career epitaph with this masterpiece and I do not see that version of the Boys as the 13-3 team of a few years ago.

Playing in Denver should always be a concern, but the Donkeys have beaten the Bungals, the Browns and the Raiders. Denver finds out how good it really is this week.

You're probably correct in this case, though there was a time just a few years ago where Breer was the man for for info on the Pats. He totally raised the bar for coverage on the team. Breer set the blueprint that Mike Reiss simply followed in his footsteps.

That was always my "tuck rule" case...
