Re: Jets vs. Patriots offense and defensive rankings
I have been pleasantly surprised by how well the Patriots Defense has played this year. Starting the season with 2 divisional opponents, that yahoo crowd and atmosphere in the Medowlands and shutting down a potent offense from Atlanta.
Two key stats jump out at me on Defense: Time the defense in on the field (avg around 21 minutes) which is ranked 2nd to the Giants and 3d down proficiency which is 1st at 20%. Bottom line here is they are getting off the field and getting the offense opportunities. They are only a +1 in the turnover rate, but that will come with more familiarity.
On offense, the Red Zone efficiency, scoring TD's instead of FG's needs drastic improvement. That will come. The interesting stat is No Fumbles!
Give the Jets their due, Ryan has them playing like they were the Ravens that won the Super Bowl. They are not asking Sanchez to do too much nad he is making smart decisions. Its a long season and we shall see what becomes of both teams, but I like our chances!!!
