I don't get bogged down in these types of stats... Colts fans for years boasted about how statistically good their team was to cover up the fact that they couldn't win big games.

For some reason Red Zone offense was left out of these stats.

The eyeball test says that the Defense is playing better than expected and the offense worse than they are capable of, however there are many good signs from the Atlanta game.

Absolutely, but also consider that if you look at Reiss' stats on who played how many snaps, almost half the defense are guys who were not wearing Pats uniforms last year (or starting) and are just learning the system. The results are pretty decent so far when you consider that factor and the learning curve...
Granted TBC has played here before but it's been several years...

Guyton 46/46 *** playing Mayo's role so I included him

I have been pleasantly surprised by how well the Patriots Defense has played this year. Starting the season with 2 divisional opponents, that yahoo crowd and atmosphere in the Medowlands and shutting down a potent offense from Atlanta.

Two key stats jump out at me on Defense: Time the defense in on the field (avg around 21 minutes) which is ranked 2nd to the Giants and 3d down proficiency which is 1st at 20%. Bottom line here is they are getting off the field and getting the offense opportunities. They are only a +1 in the turnover rate, but that will come with more familiarity.

On offense, the Red Zone efficiency, scoring TD's instead of FG's needs drastic improvement. That will come. The interesting stat is No Fumbles!

Give the Jets their due, Ryan has them playing like they were the Ravens that won the Super Bowl. They are not asking Sanchez to do too much nad he is making smart decisions. Its a long season and we shall see what becomes of both teams, but I like our chances!!!

Being that the offense gave up the six, does that mean the extra point is on the defense?

[QUOTE=crypto;1526876]The Jets defense has peaked way too early. I don't see them playing any better than they already are;

I completely agree once clavin pace comes back (the jets best pass rusher) the defense will begin to sufffer.
