I asked the question before. . . . but now that we're on the eve of the first game, I figured I'd ask again (and slightly differently).

Yes, Tuesday or Wednesday so they don't have to guarantee his salary.

Yes - sooner or later... Belicheck has started the season out "light" at that position in the past but ultimately he knows the value... amd I can't help but wonder if there's a reason Garcia asked for his release

If the Pats are going to bring in a veteran, I don't see how they will wait until later in the year. He will need to learn the playbook. You need to bring him in before you need him, not when you need him.

The only reason I think they are waiting is because if you are on the roster on the opening game, your salary is guaranteed.
