Default Seymour introduced but Al Davis steals the show

SFGate: Raiders Silver and Black Blog : Update: Al Davis steals the show

Quote:
Davis couldn't resist crashing the press conference Saturday where Seymour was introduced as the Raider in No. 92. He wanted to make it clear Seymour always wanted to play for the Raiders.
i always felt this ego of davis and image of his raiders was too important for him to tell the pats to take seymour back and get their pick back and was never going to happen.it wouldve been a slap in the face of the raiders.

"Randy Moss was great here for us. We couldn't satisfy Randy, that was our fault. He's a truly great player. The idea when you get a great player is to make him happy and satisfy him.

Seymour: "Oh, Toto, I guess we're not in Foxboro anymore".

Man, I just read the link.

How did he feel being a GUEST at Al Davis' press conference????

Seymour should have turned around and told him to shut up. I bet Raider fans can't wait until Big Al finally kicks the bucket.

Davis said all these Patriots deals in recent years involved him and Belichick on the phone, then mentioned he almost hired Belichick in 1999.
Quote:
According to Davis, team CEO Amy Trask wanted Belichick but Davis wanted Jon Gruden. We all know who won that one.

Ding, Ding, we have a winner

Raiders

There's the video (link above) of Seymour speaking for 5 plus minutes. He says that he's happy to be a Raider and that it was a shock that took time to get over after the trade. He stated that he grew up a Raider fan and coming out of college he hoped to get drafted by a Southern or west coast team....
He did say that when he got drafted the Patriots were 5-11 and it took time and hard work to get success.
I noted that he thanked Mr. Kraft and his teammates but he omitted.......the press (just kidding)...I didn't hear Belichick thanked in the clip i heard....
Seymour mentioned that he played in 4 Super Bowls and won three of them, " we won't talk about the one we lost" and Al Davis jumped in with
it all started with the Tuck game" Think the guy is still bitter???
He said all the right things and I as a Pats fan thank him for all his years of paly and wish him luck ( well, not too much as I'd like a high pick in 2011)

--One day [Patriots coach Bill Belichick] said to me about two days before we made the trade, 'Would you be interested in Seymour?' I didn't put the phone down or anything, I said 'Yeah I'd be interested in Seymour.' I said 'What do you want'? and he told me what he wanted for him. And I said I would do that.
"Bill said to me he has to check with [Patriots owner Robert] Kraft. I laughed because I thought all coaches had complete ability to do what they wanted. It's only this place where they have to go to the owner if they want to do something. So, he said he had to go to Kraft and he came back to me. They changed the deal a little bit, and then they gave me the opportunity to make my choice on draft choices.
"As you well know in 2010 we have a first, second, two thirds, a fourth and two fifths. We have a lot of choices. I said I'll go with the 1 in 2011. I'll stick with that. That's what you can have. I just wanted to get it done."----

He still thinks he's a bad ass owner who rules the league. I'm sure BB was on his knees giving you whatever you asked for Al.

Al's playing checkers and the Kraft/BB team is playing chess. Does anybody really believe that Al Davis considered that there might be a rookie scale in 2011 but not in 2010, making the draft picks in 2010 a higher potential quality( as many underclassman come out) but a better value long term in 2011?
