Rodney isn't an excuse maker though. Like Bill he's a lot more likely to point out that they need players to step up and do their job and coaches to coach better.

Oddly he's not predicting many losses. Thinks we take the AFC and Brady is MVP. Homer suckup...

If memory serves Mo, neither of them reported. At least they never played a down. They both refused to play for the inept and dysfunctional organization that we were (which is what I will think about when we come out in those silly pajamas Mon night). The Pats gave up a 1,2 and 3 then turned around and re-traded Dryer to the Rams for a 1 and the immortal Rick Cash. Thomas made such a fuss that the Pats asked the NFL to void the trade, which they did.

Duane Thomas reported and even showed up for practice. He had an argument with the coach and acted really strangely and the league allowed the Pats to void the trade. He then went back to Dallas and refused to speak to any of his teammates. The guy was fried.

I'm not sure about Dryer, though.

Still, those were both pre-CBA.

They did both report, and then proceded to be insubordinate. The Pats returned Thomas for it after a couple of days, not sure the "league" got involved. Fred just shot his way out of town by being obnoxious. These were truly cases of players nullifying their own trades simply by misbehaving. Like lots of things the league has evolved in the 35 years since. This is big business now. They can't and don't put up with that crap like they did in the carnival atmosphere that was the barely post merger NFL.

Don't judge him until you make over 200,000 per week yourself. Holding a different opinion of someone because of their earning potential is bigotry. Judge his actions, not his paycheck. Money is just a number. We're all flesh and blood.

(stepping off soap box)

I actually agree with you, though. Putting myself in Seymour's shoes, if I had no control over my employer and city of residence I would not be happy by this surprise. Then I would suck it up and realize that my problem is a luxury that hundreds of thousands of people would love to endure. I can understand his reaction. But he has no control here. He surrendered that when he signed the contract. He'll be much happier ss soon as he faces that and does what you suggest:

I'd feel better when he added "here's your $3.5M, and a we'd love to give you even more money to stay longer".
