According to the Pats website 20 of the 53 are new faces this year. 29 of the 53 were not here only 2 years ago for the 2007 undefeated season. Are these moves to get younger, away from Pioli guys, having cheaper guys on the roster for a lock out or any other trend? I cant see how this kind of turnover with the complicated systems we run(especially on D)can be improvements over the previous year. I think this does one thing for sure, we will be giving up more big plays this year than ever. But 38-35 games are fun to win too!

I was just thinking along the same lines today, ala "Is it me or has there been way more personnel moves/changes than in years past?" Retirements, trades, so many rookies making the 53..etc. etc. It's pretty exciting for the fans, I just hope it all gels by the time it matters - I have a really good feeling it will, and I can't wait to find out against Buffalo.
Looked at another way, this could be our 2009 offseason as well. Its my guess that they are planning on the lockout and wont make any big $$ deals(FAs or extensions)til the CBA is addressed.Having as many guys under control at as low cost as possible seems to be a trend. If you figure another 6-8 rookies make the team next year(and thats a low number)there will be less than 17 players on the team NOT on their rookie/low cost FA deals.

What's your feeling on the CBA negotiations? Will it be another case of right-down-to-the-wire-and-get-done, or could this one get really ugly?

Well, they've got until about March 1, 2011.
Unfortunately, there seems to be as much acrimony between the owners as there is between the owners and the NFLPA.
Personally, I expect it to take a while, but I do think that, in the grand scheme of things, there'll be an agreement. [The players don't want a lockout, and there are a fair number of owners who don't want one, either.]

Yeah, we're ahead of the game, I was just wondering what people thought in general at this stage. I was reading somewhere else about the money side of things (Direct TV and such) and I'm certainly just learning when it comes to all that, but it just seems like there's too much at stake for everybody not to get it done.
Not extending Brady early is the equivalent of seeing Krafty and BB at the store stocking up on water and batteries. You simply dont take handshake agreements into multi billion dollar negotiations, thats bad business. If Snyder can pay TB more than Giselle.....he is gone, and we get a 3rd rd compensatory pick.

i dont see brady going any whear
but the pats may go through a marino and elway type thing where you got a great HOF QB
but dont have the team around him to make it far in the playoffs
seymour is only 29 but they are deep at DL so they can get by with out him
i think leting samuel go was a bad move it left hobbs as the #1 corner and they still dont have a #1 corner right now
But owners with a mall by the stadium have options. More parking for Bass Pro shops and Victoria's secret........dont think Mr. Jones is sweating, he wont be eating at Dennys any time soon.
