Default Food for thought: 11 bites at the apple

Not sure what, if anything to make of this, but I figured this is worth noting:

2009: Four second-round draft picks
2010: One first-round draft pick plus three second-round draft picks
2011: Two first-round draft picks plus one second-round draft pick

As of today, the Patriots have/will have eleven draft picks among the top 64 of the 2009, 2010, and 2011 drafts.

For a team that's won ~3/4 of its games the last four seasons, that's pretty damn remarkable.

The first 4 bites (Chung, Brace, Butler and Vollmer) look very tasty so far. Can't wait to see what some of the next 7 will bring:

RB Jonathan Dwyer
QB (/TE?) Tim Tebow
LBs Sergio Kindle, Brandon Spikes, Rolando McClain, Eric Norwood or Brandon Lang
WR Julio Jones (using 2011 1st round pick from the Raiders), among others
DT/DE Lawrence Marsh, among others

Just a few of the many tantalizing options. As with 2009, we are loaded for bear and have enough ammo to do anything we want in either the 2010 or 2011 drafts. The FO has proven to be at it's best when it has maximum flexibility to move around.

Their own pick, plus Oakland's 2011 1st in exchange for Richard Seymour.

My bad. I should have read the rest of the forum first.

Hopefully it will turn out to be picks 1 (from Oakland) and 32 (from winning the SB).

For the next couple of years, the Patriots better toe the line with Herr Goodell. As a Jets fan, you just know he thinks that the Patriots have too many picks.

Talk about flexibility in the draft

In 2011 I would hope the Pats would take AJ Green of Georgia instead of Julio Jones of Alabama.

Dez Bryant looks pretty good too, aside from the trash talking. That is, if he doesn't come out in this draft (which I think he will). As someone who watches a lot of SEC football, I would agree with the general sentiment about Julio Jones. A.J. Green is no slouch, though. He just won't have an opportunity to show as much this year because his quarterback sucks.
