Default OT: McDaniels and Broncos keeping an eye on Jets possibly tampering with Marshall

thejetsblog.com Buzz: Broncos Watching the Jets for Tampering?

They allegedly tampered with Branch and I think Marshall is very high up on their radar and would not surprise me if they are doing it again.

To get Marshall they probably have to give up a #1 draft pick and a highly regarded player currently on their roster (Revis,Jenkins,Rhodes or someone like that)

Personally I think the Jets may find getting Marshall is too high a price to pay but that lowly bum bigmouth Rex who wants to beat the Pats bad for the division may find a way to deal with Josh - The Jets could be 1 big playmaker away at WR to make things difficult in the East and Marshall (if he goes to NY & behaves) could be a missing link to getting much better as an offense.

Josh says no way to letting Marshall go but since he is a former Belichick tree member we know nothing is certain when it comes to talking to the media.

No way they have to pay that much. Teams won't willing to pay a 2nd for Boldin in the offseason, let alone a guy with multiple strikes on his plate who wants a big contract. Probably a second round pick and another mid round pick to get him.

Why would Denver bother accepting that deal?

They might not have a choice? They are not going to invest a large amount of money in this kid going forward if his latest actions are indicative of how he's going to behave when things don't go his way. I don't think a bunch of other teams are as dumb as the Jets to line up and bid over him (especially with the contract demands and possible future suspension from another incident).

I think they can get a first and maybe a decent player or pick to go along with it, but I doubt a first and one of the Jets' better players. The best I could see the Broncos getting if a player is involved that they package a first and Cotchery since they would get Marshall and are high on Clowney (although this wouldn't be the first time Clowney performed well in the preseason and then disapeared in the regular season if he does).

The Pats got a first for Branch and the Lions got a first, third, and sixth for Roy Williams and a seventh. Even with Marshall's heavy baggage, his price should be in their range because he is a better receiver than either Branch or Williams. I don't see the Broncos parting with Marshall for less than a first and another pick, but a first and a marquee player is out of the question unless Tannenbaum gets desperate. He did last year for Favre. So who knows.

They can dock his salary for "conduct detrimental to the team" for a certain period, all the while keeping him on the inactive roster for game days, if needs be. Make him sit and cool his heels. Marshall is a world-class @ssmaggot at this point, and anything that Denver can do to make him pay for his 2nd-grade temper tantrums is fine by me.

Marshall probably would LOVE to go to Chicago and reunite with his QB.

I think Cutler leaving and the way he did was not very favorable with Marshall who I think was very tight with Jay thus he does not want to be there now catching passes from an erratic Orton who may not even play as Brandstater may sub if Kyle cannot play - still no reason for Marshall to act like a spoiled child.

Marshall is still in the top 10 lists of best receivers in the NFL no doubt, thats what makes him very hard to get rid of - If he was a so-so WR he would be on the trade wire a long time ago.

Even with Marshall, the Jets still wouldn't be much of a threat to the Pats. It would make things a little more interesting, but I still wouldn't be very worried. As far as the price (a first + a highly regarded player + a new contract), it would take a historically stupid FO to make that deal... which means that the Jets might actually do it.

I wouldnt trade Revis straight up for Marshall, Revis is the better player & also happens to not be a douche bag.

If the Broncos can get a #1 pick for him straight up they should take it, Marshall's career path is on the Pacman Jones track.

Marshall may be a crybaby but I would not compare him to a thug like Jones - He will probably be more like T.O. going from team to team, never truly able to keep his place on one team and causing locker room problems all around the league wherever he goes thus costing him the HOF which is what T.O. will go through.
