Question Christopher Price, SBB, and other happy campers - reserve Long Snapper

Hochstein has reportedly been one of the players NE counted on to fill in at Long Snapper if anything happened to Paxton (an aside, but now I'm wondering who the reserve Long Snapper is in Denver - before the trade for Russ?). I recall reports of Ninkovich working on his snapping, was there anyone else who put in any time there in Training Camp?

Chris: Any chance you could get BB and/or Scott O'Brien to talk about who else on the roster has experience long snapping? I believe Dave Thomas did it some at Texas.

For general discussion amongst the roster builders - does Hochstein's trade work for Hodel since Ingram could be re-signed to the Practice Squad?

Not in this camp, but I believe I heard Dave Thomas has long snapping in his bag of tricks. Also, I think Wilfork did it in high school. Though if he ever made a ST tackle on a punt returner, it probably wouldn't be pretty...

Ninkovich is a long snapper.

I didn't notice anyone else doing it while I was there but I wasn't even really watching the two competing for the job.

As noted above I do recall Thomas being an option. Other than that I would say it would be a good thing for Connolly, Wendell or the other back-up interior linemen to learn as it makes them a little more valued and I strees the little.

I don't think back up long snapper is a huge deal. If we ever called on someone to do it it would just be for the remainder of that game and we would get a new guy in like when Lonnie went down a few years back we brought in Kinchen.

I don't think any roster decisions would be made on who can back up the long snapper.

Connolly had enough trouble learning to shotgun snap.

Was it Connolly who had that brutal high snap last year?

I'd actually like to see Ninkovich make the 53, although I'm fairly certain he won't. Even though he was playing with 2s and 3s, he always seemed to be around the ball. If he can long snap all the better.
