I don't think anyone knows how Galloway will do. I hope he catches 50 passes. But he has been singled out by several people for drops in TC then he dropped a TD in his first game. So far he has, what, 2 catches for 19 yards? Meanwhile his learning the system talk is reminiscent of Donald Hayes (who also caught a bunch of balls in the NFL before coming here). It is early to draw conclusions, but he has been less than impressive so far.

Hayes also came here with the rep of not being the sharpest tool in the shed (a rep that was quite accurate), Galloway, as far as I know, does not have that rep.

Really? I don't remember that, only that he was a burner.

As I recall, he got the rep of not understanding routes only after a few games.

That’s what we always do, and I think the last nine years we’ve put a pretty competitive team out there on the field every year. I think that’s how you do it – you get good football players. Sometimes they are not always at the No. 1 position, but I don’t think you pass up good football players to get the guys who aren’t as good just because they’re at a position that somebody feels you need.”

You're not seriously comparing Galloway who has 682 catches to Hayes who has 144,,,,are you???
Donald Hayes
Joey Galloway

How many games did Stalloworth take to learn the offense? How about Gaffney? How about Caldwell? I don't think it is unreasonable or unusual for Galloway to take awhile to learn the offense, although I would hope for a faster learning curve.

However, the very good news is that we can afford to wait. We have four reasonable wide receivers not counting Galloway and Edelman. And that doesn't count Watson (or another TE) and Faulk who usually get as many receptions as any but the top two wideouts.

Compare Galloway to various players if you wish. The reality is that he is a major talent on the downside of his career, easily an upgrade over Gaffney. BTW, if Galloway doesn't work out, I'm sure that Belichick is fine with Lewis getting major reps. And he still has Edelman and Aiken who are reasonable receivers.

Yes, I think they are the same person. Actually, I am simply pointing out that each system is different. Success elsewhere does not guarantee success here, and vice versa. Even BB has a pretty low hit rate predicting WRs who will be successful here. Every situation is different, and I don't think there is enough data yet on Galloway in this situation to know how it will work out. He may be better than Gaffney, or he may be worse. It is unknown. I was thrilled with the signing, but it is naive to say that there is no question mark there.
