Matt Cassel takes over the Chiefs offense

A brief video featuring a BBesque quote from Chiefs coach Todd Haley, and the first appearance I can remember of Cassel's mother Barbara (and, BTW, his sister Amanda's in there too).

Well, lovely Mom, gorgeous sis, and two brothers who pitch in MLB. Great gene pool in the Cassel clan - just another similarity to that California kid who runs the whole shabang here. Interesting tidbit from the tape is the backup (Thigpen) is the one wearing the left knee brace in KC...

I think it's great as a football fan to have a rooting interest in another team or two. I always pulled for RAC. Will be pulling for Matt and Scott as well as Josh. I don't think they can harm us in the forseeable future and they fully paid their dues here. Never rooted for ERIC and never will because he's just such a ****y, ungrateful little prick. The only guys with connections to NE who ever gravitated to him were the bitter ones who had ego issues with Bill.

Like Brian Daboll, who left because he couldn't get a "promotion" from WR coach. If only he knew who the Pats would be bringing in in 2007.

Great video. Quality person. I'm rooting bigtime for Matt and his family. Health, happiness and success.

Nice interview with Haley on Cassel over at the NFP.

Quote:
“Evaluating the quarterbacks is obviously one of the harder jobs in the NFL, and if you have someone who can do it, as Bill Parcells used to always say, `Pay them whatever you have to pay them,’ because a lot of people have burned to the ground thinking they have it right,’’ Haley said. ``[General manager] Scott [Pioli] was around the kid, and all I could see was from the outside initially, and you saw a player thrown into a very difficult situation that could have gone south quickly with the Randy Mosses and all of the potential things going on there, and the amount of pressure and who he was stepping in for.

“For 15 games, he got better every game with a good supporting cast, there’s no doubt. Then you’re around him, and I think he’s got the innate leadership skills, he’s learned from maybe the best ever. I think he’s big, he’s strong, he’s smart, he’s athletic. It appears he can make all the throws. I think he just needs more seasoning, but I don’t think there are any guarantees with anybody. If you were drawing a quarterback off the draft board, you can’t ensure success either. We’ve got a guy that has 15 games of pretty quality stuff. To me, if I had to choose between the draft board and a guy like this, I’m taking this guy every time.’’

I don't know how unlikely it is, that division is mostly a wasteland.

Oakland will be lucky to win 4 games.

San Diego has quite a bit of talent, but their coaching is awful, and that talent keeps walking away.

Denver's offense was great last year, but there is going to be some decline with Orton there, and their defense is scorched earth bad.

8-8 could very reasonably win that division.

That just looks wrong. Like he's playing a role in a movie or something.

I had trouble spotting him for a long time at first because his jersey was rolled up like that. I even had to ask one of the Chiefs fans standing next to me if Vrabel was still wearing #50.
