Default Vollmer and tackles of the last 20 years

Looking back at the tackles over the last 20 years not named Light and Armstrong ...
honorable mention to Steve "Big House" Moore who I liked a lot.

Perhaps I missed one here or there and I picked 20 years because the O-Line in the mid 80's was good.
Some of them were okay...a few good games here and there none stuck around long enough to matter.

Just a draft pick at this point but here's the names he's up against.
So am I optimistic ... yup. Will he be the RT ... can he beat out Kaczur? I hope so.

Nick Kaczur
Ryan O'Callahan
Tom Ashworth
Brandon Gorin
Adrian Klemm
Kenyatta Jones
Greg Randall
Grant Williams
Max Lane ...
Ed Ellis
Zefross Moss
Scott Rehberg
William Roberts
Pat Harlow
Todd Jones
Eugene Chung
Freddie Childress
Stan Clayton
Chris Gambol
David Viaene
Damian Johnson
David Douglas
Tom Rehder

You are right to separate out Armstrong and Light. We have had quality LT's in those two.

However, which RT's do you consider better than average out of this list. How many startd the pro-bowl more than once? How many are HOF bound?

Looking at this list of RT's, Vollmer looks like a pretty good prospect.

Zefross Moss was not spectacular by any means but he was decent for a RT, and i remember him playing with that huge cast on one of his arms so for basically playing with one good arm, not too bad.

Moss was okay ... we got him for a 4th round pick but we got him at the end of his career.
The best thing about Moss was that it moved Max Lane to guard ... too bad not the bench.

I may be in the minority here, but I think that Kaczur is a pretty good RT. Although Light is certainly better, I still think we could use an upgrade at LT more than one at RT.

Agreed. Kaczur is a quality RT. Check his stats.

You're not in the minority. Plenty of us on this board think that Kaczur is just fine. My main concern has always been the health at RG. Last years drop off when Neal was out, was very noticeable. Yates made me nuts, but Levoir (sp) looks like good depth at tackle.

Oh man, don't remind me. I'll be downright surprised if the Penn State kid can't beat out Yates on the depth chart.

Im thinking we see the same 5 starters (barring injuries), but the quality in depth should be alot better this year. I hope

Definitely, same 5 starters would be fantastic. Let's just pray that Neal can stay healthy.
