Default Pioli doing his Patriot thing...

Chiefs add former Bears safety Brown to secondary

He signed veteran FS Mike Brown. He's one of those guys who is so good when healthy, but season-ending injuries have severely hurt his career. He could be a surprise for KC if he can stay on the field. A guy who nobody expects much from could step up and be a big part of the defensive unit . . . ring any bells?

The only person that comes to mind on our Defense during the Pioli era is Vrabel.
I know Mike Vrabel...and Mike Brown is no Mike Vrabel.

I am sure others will mention Rodney Harrison - but I think Rodney was generally highly regarded around the league when we brought him in. He was just overlooked by the Chargers.

Hold up - I like the move. When BB tried to rebuild before the first SB victory, he took a flyer on quite a few guys until he could draft the core he was looking for...

Pioli - in my opinion - is going to fare much better than the other BB "disciples". We only need to see if ownership is willing to lose before they start winning.

I really wasn't talking any one particular player so much as I was talking about a lot of the "castoffs" whose previous teams considered them done and/or expendable.

I absolutely love the move for KC, but that largely depends on whether Brown can finally play a full season again.

Pioli also signed a lot of others who didn't pan out, but had some potential.

Duane Starks, David Terrell, anyone?

I would put him more in the "peer" category.

Absolutely. I even mentioned that in another thread. However, you can't deny that the man can work magic at times. Nobody in life, no matter what their chosen profession or area of expertise, is going strike gold with every move or decision. I just liked reading the article because it reminded me so much of moves the Patriots have made during this most recent era. Brown may not even be the starter on opening day.

So is Josh McDaniels in Denver, I was looking at the transaction wire yesterday and saw old friend WR C.J. Jones waived by Kansas City and picked up by Denver. Looks for lots of that this summer with guys bouncing around NE,KC, and Den.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised at all.
