Now that minicamp is over, there is a six-week period until the Pats begin training camp, the next time they practice. The roster currently stands at 87, meaning that in order to sign all rookies (1 of 12 is signed so far, which means a roster move will have to be made once the 6th rookie is signed), seven players need to be cut before training camp, assuming all rookies are signed by then. My guesses are in bold. White, Kettani, and Barnes are all candidates to go on Reserve/Military (like Eckel did with the Dolphins in 2005 and TE Travis Dekker (AF) did with the Packers this year). McKenzie going on IR is also a possibility. Tate going on R/PUP is a long shot, if not an impossibility.

Barnes and White have missed all of the open OTAs and minicamp. Wendell is expendable; there are three layers of healthy interior OL depth (there are 7 OTs, but LeVoir has been out). Kettani isn't going to make it as a FB in this offense. Adams is expandable once Warren and/or Green get back. Love is expendable once Richardson is healthy. There isn't room for a camp leg like Malone.

I doubt we only take 2 Tight Ends into the season. My guess is that he will take Alex Smith instead of Dan Connolly or maybe David Thomas. I really like Myron Pryor aswell.

I'm thinking if the Pats IR McKenzie and also release maybe Ortiz or Nunn, then BB can keep Malone and also sign a kicker for camp fodder - and try to save Gostkowski and Hanson's legs for the regular season.

My guess is that Tate and McKenzie will be on reserve PUP until mid-season, then on IR.

The TOPIC is not who will make the final roster people. The topic is what the roster is right now and what the Pats would have to do to sign all their rookies as they head into TC in 6 weeks.

More than likely, McKenzie will not be signed to his contract until after the season starts. Then, he'll immediately be put on the IR.

Tate will probably start on the PUP. Whether he goes to the active roster or to the IR remains to be seen. But I don't believe you can put a player on the PUP until camp starts. So, Tate could be a late signing as well.

The Pats may put Kettani, White and Barnes on the Reserve/Military list as Pats1 suggested, but I am not sure they would want to pay the money. They might, but I'm not sure how that works..

None of Pats1's picks are out of this world. In fact, they are pretty obvious.

I am disappointed that LaVoir, Meriweather, and Mayo were not at the OTA's and mini camp. Hopefully, all is well with them.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong but isn't there a restriction on players attending practices while on IR? I believe there is. It would behoove both Mckenzie and Tate to NOT be placed on IR until they complete as much of the classroom practices as they can. I believe there is no restriction for Pupped players. Can a knowledgeable player detail if there are restrictions and what they consist of?

It would give both a Leg up on their sophomore orientations. (Pardon the pun.)
