Default Greg Lewis or Joey Galloway - Which WR will have the better year?

People have not seen much from Lewis and have seen what Galloway can do but from what I have read and heard from many pundits is that Lewis could have a breakout season under Brady and Belichick and be a player that could catch 50 passes or more this year.

Galloway by way of stats and accomplishments is more talented, but you can't escape the fact that he is 37 and that makes me think that Lewis could actually be the guy who will surprise us all and have a monster campaign and possibly be on the field gradually more and more as the season progresses.

I think Lewis catches us all by surprise and has a better season and more important to this offense than Galloway will show - Lewis will be the guy Brady looks to when Welker and Moss are being blanketed.

THe key will be that Galloway will be important to the team evenif he catches few passes. Having him outside the numbers opposite Moss will open up the middle for the slot receiver, TE and RB coming out of the backfield. Fantasy football fans will not acknowledge Joey's part due to the lack of stats, but I believe it will be there.

Lewis will be competing against Welker for time. It will be much more common to have both Moss and Galloway on the field together than Welker and Lewis. For this reason, unless Welker gets hurt, I expect Lewis to have little playing time (as one would expect from the No. 4 receiver. Aiken caught 8 passes last year, one pass in each of six games and his breakout 2-catch performance against the Bills.)

In my opinion Galloway will have the better season. Last year was an anomaly as he ended up in Jon Gruden's doghouse and was replaced by Antonio Bryant. I think he'll be very motivated to not only show people that he still can play at a high level, but will also be motivated to win his first Super Bowl ring.

Lewis has been in the league for six years. If he was unable to have a breakout season during his time with the Eagles when his competition was Hank Baskett, Joseph Avant and Reggie Brown, I don't see why he would suddenly outperform Galloway, who has been his team's #1 WR for his entire career prior to last season.

Galloway was able to average 1119 yards and 8 TD with different quarterbacks (none of whom are starters today) in each the three previous seasons in Tampa Bay. He still has elite speed regardless of his age. In my opinion not only will Galloway benefit by the presence of Moss and Welker, but Moss and Welker will also benefit by the presence of Galloway on the field.

Galloway if he can stay healthy is a no brainer

Lewis couldn't get it done in Philly. McNabb may not be Brady but, in the last 5-7 years, how many receivers have failed in Philly and gone on to greatness elsewhere?

If the rumors of Galloway still being able to run a 4.4 40 are even remotely close to true.... he will out produce Greg Lewis with the ease of a centipede.

With Eagles rejects, I'd say we're 1/2 so far (Gaffney being a success [though he didn't even make it thru a camp w Philly], Stallworth I'm considering a failure).

Assuming Galloway stays healthy, it's a pretty stupid question. Galloway has had 7 1,000 yard seasons in his career to Greg Lewis's 0. Even at Galloway's age, he is still better than Greg Lewis.

Do centipedes outproduce things easily?

I think it's Galloway too, even if his speed is exaggerated, with his experience he ought to be able to exploit constant single coverage one way or another, as long as he stays healthy.

Count me in with the Galloway crowd.

Lewis was looked at as a player on the up and up during the 2004 playoffs but it never materialized. In fact, his playing time and production both dropped significantly since then.

The way I see it, Lewis is here as depth/competition much like Andre Davis and Doug Gabriel. I'd love to see him realize his potential here, but he has hos work cut out for him if he hopes to surpass Galloway, Watson, Faulk, Baker and Smith as Brady's #3 target.
