It's the slow off-season, so at the risk of jinxing the Pats by looking too far ahead, here are some of the many milestones that the Pats may meet or exceed this season.
Note: all of these are regular season milestones unless specifically stated otherwise.



Tom Brady needs 441 yards passing to pass Steve Grogan for 2nd place all time, and 3212 yards to pass Drew Bledsoe to take over first place in franchise history in yards passing. Brady needs 3554 yards to reach the 30,000-yard milestone, and 13 victories for his 100th regular season career win. Four players may hit the 30,000-yard mark this season: Brady, Donovan McNabb, Kurt Warner, and Drew Brees could extend the size of this group to 33 players in NFL history.

With three more touchdown passes Tom Brady will become the 27th NFL player to throw 200 touchdown passes. He needs 15 to tie Terry Bradshaw for 22nd place, 17 to tie John Brodie for 21st place and 35 to tie Steve Young for 20th place in NFL history. Brady needs to complete 99 passes to become the 34th player in NFL history with 2400 completions, and 199 passes to become the 28th player in NFL history to complete 2500 passes.

Brady and Tedy Bruschi need to play in one more playoff game than Mike Vrabel and two more than Jon Runyan to take over sole possession of the lead for most playoff games and most playoff games started by active NFL players. Their current total of 17 is still far behind the all time leader, Jerry Rice, who had 29.


Bill Belichick ranks 19th in NFL history with 138 regular season wins. He needs just one more win to tie Tony Dungy, five to tie Marv Levy, eight to tie Mike Shanahan, and 11 to tie Bill Cowher for 15th place. In total regular season and playoff wins Belichick is already ahead of Dungy with 153; he needs just one to tie Levy and Shanahan, four to tie Steve Owen, and eight to tie Cowher. When the regular season is completed Belichick will be tied with Cowher for 19th place in most games as Head Coach, at 240.

Belichick currently ranks fifth in NFL history with 15 playoff wins; he needs one more to tie Chuck Noll and two more to tie Joe Gibbs. One more trip to the Super Bowl would tie Belichick for 2nd place for most conference championships in the Super Bowl era with Tom Landry, with five. Belichick also needs one more Super Bowl win to match Noll’s NFL record of four Super Bowl victories.

With another winning season Belichick and the Patriots can extend their streak of consecutive winning seasons to nine, the most in the salary cap era. The Dallas Cowboys hold the NFL all-time NFL record with a remarkable twenty consecutive winning seasons from 1966 to 1985.


Kevin Faulk enters the season in 8th place in Pats history for career rushing with 3170 yards. Faulk needs 11 yards rushing to pass Corey Dillon for 7th place; 80 yards to pass John Stephens for 6th place; 222 yards to pass Don Calhoun for 5th place; and 630 yards to pass Curtis Martin for 4th place.

Faulk starts the season in 7th place in Pats history with 777 rushing attempts; with 44 runs he will pass Don Calhoun for 6th place.

Kevin begins the season with 14 rushing touchdowns. One more will tie him for 11th place in team history with Carl Garrett; three more will tie him John Stephens for 10th place; four rushing touchdowns will tie him with Mosi Tatupu for 9th place.

Faulk is also fifth in number of punts returned with 94; he needs 17 more to catch Mike Haynes for 4th place. Faulk ranks 6th in punt return yardage with 901 yards; he needs 59 more yards to tie Stanley Morgan for 5th place. Faulk already holds the team records for kickoffs returned with 175 and kickoff return yardage with 3954; he needs one more kickoff return for a TD to tie the team record of three held by Raymond Clayborn and Ellis Hobbs.

Laurence Maroney enters the season in 17th place in Pats history with 1673 career rushing yards. Maroney needs 345 yards to pass #16 Andy Johnson; 504 yards to pass #15 Steve Grogan; 563 yards to pass #14 Carl Garrett; 743 yards to pass #13 Mosi Tatupu; 765 yards to pass #12 Leonard Russell; and 797 yards to pass #11 Craig James.

Sammy Morris enters the season in 24th place with 1111 yards rushing; with 188 yards he will pass Mack Herron for 20th place and with 426 yards he will pass Ron Burton for 18th place.

While Pats fans don’t want to see him run, with twenty rushing yards Tom Brady will tie Drew Bledsoe for 37th place in franchise history; Brady enters the season with 533 yards rushing.

BenJarvus Green-Ellis starts the season in 56th place in the team record books with 275 yards. With 151 yards rushing he will tie Patrick Pass for 40th place.

Matt Gutierez enters the season in 217th place with –13 yards rushing; he needs to lose four more yards to take over sole possession of last place in Pats franchise history for rushing yardage.

Wes Welker enters the season in 10th place with 223 receptions as a Patriot. Welker will tie 9th place Tony Collins with 38 receptions; 8th place Jim Colclough with 60 catches; 7th place Gino Cappelletti with 69 catches; and 6th place Terry Glenn with 106 catches.

Welker currently ranks 23rd in team history with 2340 receiving yards; he can pass #9 Harold Jackson with 823 yards. And Welker is currently tied for 30th with 11 receiving touchdowns; he can tie Jackson for 13th place with 7 receiving touchdowns.

Welker is also 10th in number of punts returned with 49; with 25 punt returns he will tie Mack Herron for 7th place.


Randy Moss enters the season already in 6th place in Pats history with 34 receiving touchdowns. Moss needs four more to catch 5th place Irving Fryar; five to catch 4th place Jim Colclough; eight to catch 3rd place Gino Cappelletti; and 16 to catch 2nd place Ben Coates. Randy is currently in 19th place with 2501 yards receiving; he needs 661 yards to catch 9th place Harold Jackson.

Moss enters the season 15th in career receptions in NFL history with 843. He and Tory Holt (869) could become the 10th and 11th players to surpass 900 career receptions this year. Joey Galloway needs just 18 receptions to become the 30th player in NFL history with 700 career receptions. With one more catch Kevin Faulk will rank #200 in NFL history for most receptions, and with 19 catches Faulk will become one of 183 players in NFL history with 400 receptions.

Moss needs 799 yards receiving to become the seventh player in NFL history to reach 14,000 yards. Five yards after that he will overtake James Lofton for 6th place in the NFL record book for career receiving yardage. Joey Galloway needs 290 yards to become the 21st player in NFL history with 11,000 yards receiving – though Tony Gonzalez and Mushin Muhammad may hit that mark before he does.

Randy Moss can become the active leader in touchdown receptions and second all time with four more TD catches than Terrell Owens this year; Moss enters the season in third place all time with 135 touchdown catches. With three touchdown catches Joey Galloway will become the 19th player in NFL history with 80 touchdown receptions.

Moss enters the season in third place among active players with 136 career touchdowns, five behind current co-leaders LaDainian Tomlinson and Terrell Owens. With his next touchdown Moss will pass Marshall Faulk for 6th place in NFL history for career touchdowns; he needs nine more to tie Marcus Allen for 3rd place.

With two touchdowns Joey Galloway will tie Tommy McDonald and Mark Clayton for 40th place on the all time list for career touchdowns with 85. With six touchdowns Fred Taylor would move in to 55th place on this list.

Fred Taylor needs 368 all-purpose yards and Randy Moss needs 445 all-purpose yards to become the 37th and 38th players to break 14,000 yards in that category in NFL history. Joey Galloway needs 377 all-purpose yards to be the 52nd player in NFL history to reach 13,000 all-purpose yards. Kevin Faulk needs 671 yards to become the 70th player to hit 12,000 all-purpose yards. And with another 696 all-purpose yards, Wes Welker will pass the 10,000-yard mark.

Taylor needs to rush for 729 yards to become the 14th player to run for 12,000 yards in his NFL career. With 1,041 yards rushing Taylor will have as many yards rushing in his career as the great Jim Brown did. And with 72 attempts, Taylor will become the 20th player in NFL history to run the ball 2500 times.

If Junior Seau should return for at least two games, that will put him among the top twenty in NFL history in games played.


Stephen Gostkowski needs seven more PAT’s and 17 more Field Goals to take over 4th place in both of those categories from Tony Franklin. Gostkowski enters the season in sixth place in points scored with 388; he needs 21 to pass Stanley Morgan and 55 to pass Franklin.

Wow-- way to go negative with a stat there. Hahahahahaha I like Gutz. But for Brady's sake I hope he only ever sees the field long enough to lose those four more yards.

Yeah, I wasn't going to include that but I figured there were enough other positives to balance it out. Nothing against Gutz, for some reason I found it humorous to see a current player one slot above the very bottom in franchise career rushing yardage - over a punter who had one run for a loss of 16 yards.

Is Brady's active consecutive regular season win streak the record? He's on 20 right now, dating back to 2006 since the Miami game through the '08 Chiefs game.

Bruschi has only played in 17 postseason games? I know Brady has, but shouldn't Bruschi have a lot more since he was around during the Parcells/Carroll playoff seasons?

He must have missed a few with injuries that I can't recall....

I hadn't thought about that, but Brady must have the record for most consecutive wins by a starting quarterback in regular season games since the Pats have the record of 21 consecutive regular season wins from 2006-08. The next longest winning streaks were the Pats (18, 2003-04), Bears (17, 1933-34), Steelers (16, 2004-05), Dolphins (16, 1983-84), Dolphins (16, 1971-73) and Bears (16, 1941-42); it looks like none of their quarterbacks had personal winning streaks longer than their team's winning streaks.
