I don't see this happening. Not because I think the Pats wouldn't trade Seymour in the right circumstances, but I think the Pats have no interest drafting in the top 5 of the draft. Even getting Curry with the pick is a huge risk.

That would be why I mentioned the linebacker left unprotected.... I dismissed Raji as an option because he's a DT.

Which they will then subsequently trade away to the other teams in exchange for their first round and second round picks next year... hehehe

Haha. How awesome would it be to just be able to sift through the top 64 players for the best ones and then just cut the sucky guys for the other teams.

I mean, we already do this, they just don't realize it, but...

I certainly do not think there is anyway in the world they would try to franchise him, that would be much too high of a cap hit. If they can't reach a deal on something reasonable (little higher than right now, per inflation etc) then it's not going to happen. If they've been able to keep him this long, then it's certainly possible to continue to keep him, at a little higher cost. I think they'd much rather franchise Vince at half the price, but who knows? The situation will be discussed at length for the next yr.

They probably aren't going to negotiate with Seymour now, especially in a contract yr--for fear of getting burnt. Maybe he comes back softer (as some would argue,) after signing big money like last time. Then again, if he plays large, like expected in a contract yr, then he'll demand too much and we'd have to let him go. I think you can depend on him every play, every game, and every yr the same--at an extremely high level. I also think he was somewhat injured, and took a little while to shake off a couple of injuries--but he's been back. I hope that he can somehow stay, and think trading him, especially now in a contract yr, is pointless. I do not think he will demand Haynesworth money, unless you figure that to be the first 4 yrs of Haynesworth's contract (approx. 12 mill / per) Since that is a little more than he's making already, that may be alright with them.

I think we're still going by the assumption that BB thinks Wilfork is more irreplaceable than Seymour, just because many of us feel that way. That may be true, or he may feel differently. Only time will tell.

The chances are zero because the top five picks in the draft will be the highest paid players at their position without ever having taken an NFL snap.

That represents HORRIBLE value. Truly horrible.

And the Pats are nto fans of doing things for horrible value, much less TRADING up to get a horrible value deal.

So the chances aren't "small", or "remote", or "unlikely". They are ZERO.

No, it really doesn't.

Jarvis Green isn't that great, especially not when assuming full time duties.

Top 3 dollar contracts are a big reason why the teams that are consistently drafting so high rarely improve. Until the NFL deal with this out of whack salary structure for high draft picks, the Pats will have no more interest in #3 overall than I have in the fat girl who lives next door.
