I'm not a mind reader so I have no earthly idea. Losman said something to piss him off? Belicheat gave him the order? The Bills had a chance to win? Wait a minute, isn't that the same game Takeo Spkies sacked Brady and we recovered the fumble for a touchdown? Well then, it was because we had a chance to win.
Give me a break. Its just stupid to think that Wilfork INTENTIONALLY went at Losman's legs. Please go back and watch the WHOLE video because you'll see that the Buffalo guard was the one taking Wilfork's legs out from under him.. If the guard doesn't take Wilfork down, Wilfork hits Losman in the chest and nothing happens other than Losman feeling like he got hit by a steamroller.

If you can't stay off the ground when you are rushing the passer, then the rules should force you to get off your damn arse before you continue the pass rush. Otherwise you start to build a cottage industry of inferior players who happen to be able to dive under blocks and launch themselves like a missile at the QB. If you don't like the "Brady Rule", then how about a rule that if you are rushing the passer and end up on the ground, a blocker is free to molest you in any way they see fit. I actually think that rule would end up stopping the knee attacks more effectively. Somehow I don't think that will find its way into the rulebook...unless they bring back the XFL.
I like it. All cut blocks all the time, since hitting the ground will end a defender's rush.
I think you might be right on the merits, but the NFL is also entertainment. Brady, Peyton, Big Ben and, yes, even Romo, deliver fans and audiences.
I understand, but this rule was never in place and how many times has a marquee name been seriously injured in a fashion that would have been covered by this rule.
I guess I am not really opposed to the rule per sea (although I think it will hurt the defensive game more than it will protect QBs). I am more opposed to the league's overraction to isolated incidences and writing rules based on these isolationed incidences.
Personally, I don't like it. The league is too reactionary based on one or two isolated incidents (see the Roy Williams law). I think it will hurt defenses more than protect QBs.
I sorta agree with that.

Jesus Christ, the last thing the Roy WIlliams law is about is "isolated incidents". There are all sorts of players out of football with leg and back injuries from being tackled that way.

1) Starting this fall, the NFL is going to outlaw the "wedge" on kickoffs
2) Stop the bunching of players on onside kicks
3) Protect blockers from a helmet-to-helmet hit from the blindside
4) Save receivers from forearm or shoulder hits to the head when they appear to be defenseless
Sorry for all the edits the original sources were not very clear, anyway looks like the Brady rule did not pass.

So I only count three WR example hit Welker took, QB example Brady, and ST wedge. Does anyone know the fourth?
Wes will be glad to hear about those changes.
