Default Cowboys SS Roy Williams asks to be cut or traded

Considering Belichick's successful track record in giving outsiders a second chance, any chance he does the same with SS Roy?

Safety Roy Williams wants Dallas Cowboys to act today | Dallas Cowboys News | Sports News | News for Dallas, Texas | Dallas Morning News

Roy Williams wants to know what his future holds immediately, so his agent, Jordan Woy, has asked the Dallas Cowboys to either cut or trade the strong safety by today.

The Cowboys have made Williams available for trade but the market has been slow, largely because teams believe the club will eventually release him. Williams is scheduled to count $6.6 million against the 2009 salary cap.

If the Cowboys trade or cut Williams, they will save roughly $2 million against the cap. His 2008 season was cut short by a twice-fractured right forearm that limited him to three games. He finished with nine tackles.

If it were for little $$ I would love to give him a shot.

I'd give him a shot, but it would have to be majorly incentive based........he's become a liability in coverage, but then again, in the zone the pats employ, he may excel....

but he'd have to be willing to re-prove himself before any chance at good money

If people are going to whine about James Sanders being inadequate in coverage, why the hell would we want Roy Williams?

As someone put it--can Roy Williams make a tackle without trying to end a guy's career?

I wouldn't take him unless the Cowboys gave me a fourth just for taking him off their hands.

No thanks. Too limited in coverage. To much of a prima donna.

Williams is as bad in coverage as any safety I've ever seen.

I think I can say, without hyperbole, that Roy Williams is THE most overrated Pro Bowler in the HISTORY OF THE UNIVERSE. He's AWFUL. No way, don't touch him FOR FREE.
