Default Ex-Pat Lawyer Milloy, Falcons to part ways

Lawyer says he wants to play for Seattle. Personally, I'm kind of surprised that he's been able to hang on this long.

Lawyer Milloy, Falcons to part ways

Quote:
“We felt as an organization that it was in the best interests of both parties to go in our own directions and let him test the market in free agency,” Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff said Sunday. “We feel that Lawyer has been a significant contributor to the Falcons organization both on and off the field. We are very proud to have had him involved here. We wish him all of the best in his future career in football and life outside of football.”

Milloy broke in with the New England Patriots after being selected in the second round of the 1996 draft. He played seven seasons with the Patriots and three with the Buffalo Bills before signing with the Falcons in 2006.

“I’ve seen him play at New England and he’s proven that he’s a major contributor in the league,” Dimitroff said. “We feel going forward as an organization that we have acquired players through the draft and free agency in the secondary. We will continue to rebuild the secondary.”

He's been nothing more then average or below for a number of seasons now. His time has come and gone.

Before anyone even says it: no thanks. Lawyer was very good in his time, but he's been average or worse for a long time now. James Sanders is significantly better than Milloy is, at this point.

All I can think about is Boldin owning him in wildcard game, on Boldin's TD.

Seeing Milloy becoming further and further away from him.

ya, we sometimes get too sentimental for past players, and Lawyer definitley fits that billing. I was a big fan of him while he was here (I have his jersey), so while I would be happy if he came back in a reserve roll, I understand that the team has better interests.

I'm sure it was tough for Belichick to cut him the first time. I'd guess he doesn't want to do it again.

I still have my jersey as well.

And Bledsoe's.

And Bruschi's...

I guess I better get Mayo's now.
