Default Trying to read the tea leaves: Kraft on the QB situation

From Reiss via Sirius Radio. I'm not really sure what to make of it:

Quote:
"I try to talk about things I know," Kraft answered. "I would say I'm rooting for the economy to take on. ... I'm rooting for things to happen in the NFL that put the New England Patriots in the best position to win. What that means, that could go any number of paths. But in life it's always good to have more good people than you really need. I think that right now the New England Patriots are blessed at the quarterback position."
Well, duh. Is there any other team whose QB roster you'd trade straight up for New England's?

Edit: I said Howard Stern, I was corrected. My bad.

In general, looking at the excerpts Reiss had, I read the tea leaves as if he was intimating "I want to get a lot in a trade for Cassel".

The context is important:
Quote:
At the end of the interview, King asked Kraft if he had a gut feeling that another team would make a mega-offer, with a first-round draft pick, for Cassel....

"I'm rooting for things to happen in the NFL that put the New England Patriots in the best position to win."
The connection between things happening in the NFL and a Cassel trade tells me he is hoping other teams will pony up.

Stern isn't a sports guy, so to give this statement context was Kraft sitting next to a porn star or topless stripper when he answered this question?

The question above was actually from the "Opening Drive" program that included Peter King, who asked the question about a potential Cassel trade.

I think the answer to the question is obvious, if the Patriots get value in return, yes. I don't see any scenario in which Belichick is looking for anything less than mid-first round value for Cassel. How he defines mid-first round value is subjective.

Hell, Brady is available for the right price. The right price might take a Hershel Walker deal, but anyone on the team could be acquired for value.

At times I might be inclined to say the same thing about King as far as being a "sports guy", but he clearly doesn't attract that crowd as interviewees.

King's one of the best in the business. The insanity about sports journalists, columnists, commentators and analysts on this board is just ridiculous.

Just a joke following up my prior post, Deus. I don't really have issues with King (in fact I have defended him on numerous occasions despite the Spygate idiocy). Next time I will bracket the phrase with a joke disclaimer rather than just ending with the smiley face.

Oh, man.... my bad. Somehow, I missed the smiley. Sincerest apologies.
