Seymour is a great player, but Wilfork is the staple of the D-Line in our 3-4
Yeah, Wilfork Seymour, then Brady.

Gotta go with Big Vince. Seymour had a good year this year, but for the 2 before this (mostly due to injury) he was pretty invisible. Meanwhile, Big Vince was hitting his stride all along. Plus, he's younger and not as banged up as Seymour. So, if we can keep only one, it's got to be Wilfork.
goign to have to disagree with you there.. Thomas plays like 80% of the snaps.. Maybe in time Mayo will be but Thomas can do pretty much anything (play the run, pass coverage and rush the passer)..

I would imagine that mayo's role will increase now that hes not a rookie, i think he may emerge as a truly elite linebacker this year.
That is a tough call because it is the equivalent of asking would you rather have offenses run over the end or up the middle. Wilfork's early days when he was learning the position showed it can get pretty ugly up the middle, but it was ugly because Seymour was outside driving offenses inside.
With the Pats defense as it is, those front three have to be effective, and neither Seymour nor Wilfork can be easily replaced. I expect the Pats will get extensions done on both, just as they did with Warren.
Seymour and then Wilfork. Seymour is a three downplayer. Wilfork comes out on some nickle packages, hence a two down player. Seymour is the one alone of the three of Wlfork, Warren and him that provides the pass rush from the Defensive line. You can't run a Defense with only two OLB providing the rush. You need an interior pass rusher too. Seymour, on his way to the HOF, is that force.
Belichick knows what positions aee importanty. LOT, Defensive line, and QB. He will re-sign all of them. If he needs to lose somebody because of th CAP it will be elsewhere.
I'm a huge Seymour fan, and think that he's one of our most important players, but, after Brady, Wilfork might be the single most important Patriot. That said, I think we'll see both of them get resigned.
It's also worth mentioning that, independently of how good Wilfork is, there's also the fact that good a good 3-4 NT is incredibly difficult to find. There are more 3-4 teams than there are starting-caliber NTs in the league right now.

I think so too.
You present an interesting case for Seymour;my vote went to Big Vince mainly because of his position, one which he also happens to excel at. But you're right about Big Sey so it's a tougher call than you initially think.
But even though Vince is in there less, when he's in there he's needed and he's effective just about every time.
I agree with the bolded part though-BB won't lose any of those guys. They're among the "core" imo.
