Hah sweet being from Toledo I thought this was pretty interesting hire at first until I read more, Toledo has sucked every year since Bruce graduated and went to the NFL but they did beat Michigan .

Everything here is true. Even at the Ivies, you can tell if you're in an easy class if you look at the back of the room and see 10-15 250-300# guys in a group.

That said, remember that the Ivies have no athletic scholarships, so any athlete who's there--unlike useless legacy idiots like W*--actually has to be a fairly intelligent person.

And, BTW, according to Notre Dame's website, Graham was a sociology major.

Fair enough. It's one of the major "default" majors, like English, psychology, biology, history, etc.

What majors are you imagining as rigorous if these are the defaults?

I do teach, and I recognize that some kids with no directions will willingly and gladly accept a C average in such a major, which is--as you say--possible in such a major. But I fail kids too and give them Ds when they don't show up and do the work. The kids getting Bs and As in these classes are working hard and learning critical skills. All four of those majors are serious majors.

Sorry to go off-topic here. But, I do look around the university and sometimes I wonder about journalism or say, advertising, public relations. I have the same attitude you do about some majors, but not the four you mentioned.
