Thing is, he's right. That game was won by a bad coaching call, a lucky catch, and a missed ref call.
Flipside is, that perfect season was the result of luck too (Ravens game).
It happens. He shouldn't have said it, but he's right.

I thought he was trying to say that the best team going into the game will win this year, unlike last year - meaning that last year, the Patriots were definitely the better team going into the game, but the Giants came out the better team. The better team going into the game last year did not win. But it seems people are interpreting it to mean that he believes the Patriots were still the better team, even in a loss.
I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and say it was just bad phrasing on his part. After all, didn't he write the foreword to Tyree's book? I don't think he would do that if he was bitter about the whole thing.
It was bitterness, no doubt about it and I can;t blame him. I just wish he used his intelligence at the time to realize saying it on national TV isn't exactly the best idea.
A year ago today it felt like a bomb went off, today that game still brings me down. I feel so ridiculous saying that over a stupid game, but I don't know. I can't begin to explain that game.
Wow - seeing the grin on Rodney's face, I thought it was a fairly innocent and good natured comment. And didn't Rodney write the forward to Tryee's book? He must be really bitter.
Just another pathetic attempt on Florio's part to stir the pot.
But it does present the knuckle-dragging mouth-breathers in the NY media another opportunity to indulge in some adolescent name calling.
Homerism is what being a Patriots fan is all about. I'm DEAD serious too. If you are a true die-hard Pats fan, you are supposed to be a homer. If you see yourself as a "fan of football", then you're not a die-hard Pats fan. Of course this applies to any fan of any NFL team.
So in any discussion of our beloved Patriots, we're always going to lean toward defending or bragging about our team...that's just the way it's supposed to work.
I understand were Rodney is coming from and it's annoying how the media is trying to make this into something it's not. The Pats were 16-0 in the regular season and the Giants were 10-6. Almost everybody predicted the Pats to win this game easily. The Pats were the better team, just like the Raiders in '01, Steelers in '01 and Rams of '01. However, Rodney, you should have broke up that pass to Tyree (a fouth string WR ) instead of making him look like Larry Fitzgerald.

Being a diehard fan and being logical/realistic are not mutually exclusive things.

That's what happens when you have a defense full of dinasours. Hopefully after watching our D blow it like a 2 cent whore in Mexico the last 3years, we might just get defensive help. Maybe.

He was exactly right. And he's more than earned the right, imho,to say what he wants without PATS FANS crapping on him for it
At the end of the day Rodney Harrison's contributed quite a bit to this team, both on the field and off. He'll go down as one of the best in the league and most certainly as one of the most memorable Patriots ever. His story is part of their legacy and jmho but he's been pretty gracious about it all.
So what if he says something not 110% PC? That's Rodney. His fire is part of what makes this team who it is; it's exactly what he said last night that puts him in the Patriot's heart and soul inner circle.
That's Rodney and I wouldn't expect anything less from him either.
