Why such a hateful backlash against Brady? [merged: Shaugnessy article]
I know some of the articles on Brady are suppose to be funny but the comments from fans after are just hateful. What has he done? Went to Mexico with his girlfriend? They have been together along time. A part of me hopes Brady is traded an comes back to haunt the Patriots fans who are ripping the guy.

It's absurd and childish. It's no surprise Shaugnessy joined into the fun. He's an ugly little troll and unless there is a female Shrek out there, I doubt he has someone to spoon feed him at the pool parties.
Honestly though, I do find these notions a bit offensive, and if I were a woman, I'd probably be angry about it. I'd love to hear from some of our female posters on the issue. But the notion that Shaughnessy throws out there is basically that Tom is display "effeminate" qualities or is somehow less "macho", and that that is bad. Basically, Shaughnessy wants to return to the 1950s, or somewhere in that time frame.

I am female. I found the entire article silly. I think the article was suppose to be funny not serious. The comments after the article is whar bothered me more.
There is a perception that Brady doesn't care about football anymore. There are actually people who think his career is done and he will retire for the best of the team. People see things like him not getting the offseason awards, getting photographed in NY or LA, etc. as him getting soft.
As far as I am concerned, Brady has earned our respect and us not questioning how he lives his life. Until we see his play on the field decline, who are we to think he isn't successfully balancing his life and his career? Brady is no longer a young kid who needs to hone his craft. Besides, I don't think any team is working this week other than the Cards and the Steelers. Many of the coaches and trainers are in Tampa right now.

Yes, I couldn't tell if Shaughnessy's article was sarcasm or not, even if it was, I think the tone of it was far too unprofessional to print in a reputable paper and not just some blog or fansite.
As for the comments, which are you referring to? Only a few show up at this point, and they are pro-Tom. But you are going to get your anti-Tom for the same reason Shaughnessy printed this article - jealousy and archaic values. Whether Shaughnessy is trying to be funny or not, its still borderline offensive.
