Default Curran lists 3 Patriot teams as worst teams ever in Super Bowl

I love how Tom Curran lists the 1985, 1996, and 2001 Patriots among the worst teams to ever go to a Super Bowl, yet leaves out the Ravens (2000?) that had ZERO offense and NONE of the Buffalo teams that lost 4 Super Bowls in a row. I'm sure there are plenty of other examples.

I know I'm biased, but I'd say it was a pretty crappy article:

The worst teams in Super Bowl history

It sounds like the Kool-Aid is wearing off.

He's really endearing himself to Patriot fans. Perhaps he's lobbying for a job at ESPN.

The 2001 Patriots might've seemed like an underdog at the time, but in hindsight, you have a guy on each side of the ball playing their first season as a starter who will ultimately reveal themselves to be a franchise player (Brady & Seymour). Not to mention you have one of the best corners of all time in Law. You have some great, underrated (at the time) LBs, Vrabel, Bruschi, Johnson. You got Willie Mac of course.

That 01 group is considered a cast of no names in some sense, but really, the only unit on that squad that was no names to some extent was the receivers beyond Brown. And Brady and Weis made up for that.

'85 is tough to disagree with and you can make an argument for '96. But not '01. People forget we were the #2 seed in the AFC that year.

Curran has clearly gone to the dark side; too bad.

Yea, I don't know how you call them one of the worst of all time knowing what you know now about Brady. If you are going purely by record, than OK - That's not a good way to do it, but whatever. But to say that they are one of the worst with a guy at QB that will probably be regarded as the best of all time is..........well......just stupid.

Not to mention that the team was 0-2 without Brady. It went 11-3 the rest of the regular season and then 3-0 in the playoffs. That's 14-3 with Brady. Those 3 losses are the same amount of losses the Rams finished the season with.

Yeah, Hall of Fame QB and Hall of Fame Coach do not make one of the worst SB teams ever.

The '96 team was more talented than the '01 squad outside of the QB position. They were the #2 seed as well, and hosted the AFC Championship game because the Jaguars were kind enough to have upset the Broncos. That '96 squad was thought of as a team that was up and coming, and arrived a year early. Curtis Martin, Ben Coates, Bruce Armstrong, Terry Glenn at his peak, Shawn Jefferson and Dave Meggett on offense, Lawyer Milloy, Ty Law, Willie Clay, Willie McGinest, Chris Slade and Ted Johnson on defense, along with a young Tedy Bruschi and Troy Brown. Not to mention guys like Sam Gash, Keith Byars and Todd Collins. The only thing that kept them from winning the Superbowl was Parcells idiot decision to throw the game by kicking to Desmond Howard, and Max "Turnstile" Lane. The '85 team I agree with, but including '96 and '01 is insane, especially '01 - at the time, no one really knew what the Patriots had in terms of talent because so many guys were undervalued. In hindsight, that was a pretty talented team.
