Default Consistency or Shooting Star?

YOUR choices:

1. Team A…over the next 5 years, they lose no more than 4 games a year, typically advancing deep into the playoffs. However, they never win the SB.

2. Team B…over the next 5 years, they win no more than 4 games a year, however, in mid season of year 5 they go on a "hot streak" and rattle off a series of wins that culminates in a SB victory.

Which do you prefer:

As a fan
As a coach
As an owner

Eh, I guess as a fan, I would prefer Team B only because it brings a Lombardi. As a coach or an owner (not knowing that the team would not win a Super Bowl), I'd take Team A.

EVERY FAN
Will want a SB victory and not heartache - Its all the way or no way - Normal responses would be to add one more SB to your teams success even if it means 4 out of 5 lousy seasons - 1 championship to add on is better than none

A coach might not make it to that SB season you speak of and could be fired before then (see Mangini) so he wants consistency

Owners want to make money - Success and wins regardless of SB titles will bring dollars to the pocket - The SB title is just icing on the cake

I think an owner and coach would prefer consistent quality. Not too many coaches would be left after a couple 4-win seasons. Plus, even if you never win an SB, being in the mix every year is good for profits.

As a fan... I'd hate to know that I had picked either one of those. You are either picking that your "team" has a 4-win season four out of the next five years, or that your team doesn't win a super bowl for 5 years. Both are pretty bad.

I'd pick team A as a fan, coach, and owner. I'd rather have 5 great seasons coming up just short than 4 almost unwatchable seasons and 1 SB winning season.

This is the year. We put our failures in the past, it's a new year, a new defense. It's time to prove to the league that the Patriots are back and aren't going anywhere and they will be the last ones standing in Feb.
Update: Well that didn't work out as I had planned. Next year baby, next year 19-0 we go. Next year.

Seriously; I want at least 2 more SB's with Brady.
We can do it imo.

I choose the Patriots - 3 SB's in the next 6 years.

Team B and there's no question. 2 is not a winner and 3 nobody remembers.

Team A just means increased risk for hypertension.
