Who else besides the 2008 Jets and Pats run a 2 gap 3/4, I don't think any other team does?
They play both 4-3 and 3-4 one-gap, but but their base is a 4-3 one gap penetrating Defense.
Wherever Belichick protoge Coaches went, think Crennel or the Tuna for that matter, the 3-4 showed up along with read and react. Brother Rob Ryan in Oakland has them playing the Belichick 3-4 read and react. Caper had the Texans play a 3-4 one gap. Pitt is a 3-4 one gap. Dallas was a 3-4 two gap but Wade installed one gap principles too. I don't know what Norv did to the Bolts but they were a disciplined 3-4 under Marty. I thought the 49ers played 3-4 too.

With each passing hour, speculation is mounting that former Bucs coach Jon Gruden could become the next coach at Notre Dame.
Apart from the rumors published recently in the New York Daily News, we’re hearing more and more talk pointing to the possibility that something will be going down, apparently right after the Irish’s incoming recruiting class give their binding, written commitments to attend the school, on the assumption that Weis will be the head coach.
And so, once it’s too late for the recruits to change their minds, they might find out that they’ll have a new head coach when spring practice opens.
We’ve got no idea whether something actually is going down, but there’s enough smoke to force the Irish to address the situation.
As we’d heard it in December, the powers-that-be weren’t going to dump Weis unless and until they had someone whom they regarded as a better option under contract. We’d heard that it was Cincinnati’s Brian Kelly.
And so, not long after Kelly said he wasn’t leaving UC, it was no surprise that ND said Weis would get another year.
All that said, if Notre Dame is going to swap out a portly coach with a sour disposition for a short, thin coach with a sour disposition, it’s only fair to the recruits to do it now, so that the kids will be able to make their commitments based on the most truthful and accurate information available.

Initially thought that this whole thing was seriously lacking any veracity, however it now seems to have some legs.. the Gruden ND part.. not sure about the Weiss Pats thing yet.

It is gaining steam, and would make the Mcdaniels transition better, but maybee Weis wont come back or Belichick would want to move.. I know we had great seasons with Charlie and Romeo, but we always look to the past, maybee Belichick wants to look forward..

Just a thought. If this does go down don't rule out Charlie taking over for Edwards in K.C. Pioli hasn't pulled the trigger on Herm yet so maybe he's hearing what we are and is waiting to see if this scenario materializes?

From fired in the College ranks to Coach in the NFL?
I know Pioli has total control in KC, but that will be a tough one for the owner (ANY owner for that matter) to stamp his approval on.

True, but he'd be replacing a Coach who went 9-7, 4-12 and 2-14. Youth movement or not that's pretty pathetic. Don't underestimate how hot the BB tree is right now.

Perhaps the ownership and GM are appalled at Josh wanting to be the HC, the QB coach, the OC and call the plays. Josh is a very inexperienced head coach. He may be the best OC, QB coach and play-caller on the team. HOWEVER, he cannot be effective and perform those roles at the same time as learning on-the-job to be a HC.
