Re: OT: The Belichick-Very Lite Coaching staff in place in Cleveland
I think they're both pretty good moves. And if he somehow keeps RAC on hand, Tubby Ratfink could have a much better chance of success there than he did at the Jests.

Ryan's defense was just OK in Oakland with some good talent but it's tough to know what he was allowed to do. Daboll, who knows, he's been a WR and QB coach but he's never been an OC before.

Yeah, Daboll is a big unknown right now. Knowing that McDaniels was on the fast track to being a head coach, Belichick did let the guy leave for New York last year eventhough he knew he had to groom someone for the OC position. That may be telling. Granted Mangini was positioning Daboll to use Schottenheimer as the fall guy if they had a bad season and put Daboll as the OC next season.
Also, Ryan seems to be an unknown too. Supposably, Al Davis has a lot of say in the defense and Davis passed him over for head coach three times going with Lane Kiffin, Tom Cable, and the next guy.
"A source with knowledge said today that new Browns coach Eric Mangini is expected to name Brad Seely as his special teams coordinator."
Then I'm assuming:
(A) Seely's contract is up, and/or
(B) BB is OK with him leaving.
After all, can't the Pats block horizontal transfers (e.g., ST coach -> ST coach) for any coach still under contract?
