I think this would make sense: Pioli takes the Cleveland job and brings Josh in as head coach, retaining Romeo as defensive coordinator/assistant head coach and also hiring Tubby Ratfink to work with the defense. (Crennel tried to bring Tubby with him originally.) Crennel reportedly has said he's willing to stay with the organization. The Browns might end up becoming Patriots West. Just too bad that they'd be in the AFC. HOWEVER, with Baltimore on the rise and the Steelers traditionally tough, that division could beat up on itself for years to come.

Crennel said he would not stay in Cleveland in any other capacity.

They're missing the key piece though. The man who wears the hoodie. I love the others but let's not forget who butters the bread here.
Of course. I also think Ernie Adams, Dante Scarnecchia, our special teams coach (name escapes me at the moment) and Jonathan Kraft are among other key behind-the-scenes guys here. From what I've read, Pioli has not been afraid to disagree with BB even though the two share the same philosophy, so he might be hard to replace. At least with these changes looming, we've got the full off-season to deal with them and get other people in place.
I'd be willing to bet that pioli would never hire mangini
I agree. I view the prospect of a Belichick friend, disciple and confidant hiring Mangini as "plausible" as Belichick rehiring him.
I also don't see Crennel taking a demotion with the same club. If he wants to work he'll have no problem finding another option with another team - such as the Patriots.
I would also expect that Pioli and Belichick have an understanding of who is and isn't available for Pioli to take from the staff - such that they are not being denied promotions, as any team could make such an offer to a Patriots assistant.
It would be interesting to see if Pioli and McDaniels become a package - and whether they'd have interest in Cassel as a QB. Any team is going to have to wait to make a deal with the Pats on Cassel - the Browns may be in the best position to do so - having QBs under contract but the ability to trade them once Cassel is available.

Sorry, Tune. But Crennel isn't going to be brought back to Cleveland in any capacity. And Mangin will be lucky if someone can find him a job as a ball boy in this league.

Crennel has already said he'd sit down with Pioli and whoever is named head coach IF Pioli gets the job (see link elsewhere this thread). I definitely could see Romeo staying on there to coach the defense with McDaniel and Pioli in place, a la Gunther Cunningham at Kansas City. You might be right about Tubby R., but Crennel tried really hard to bring him to Cleveland four years ago.

As I said in the OTHER thread, Crennel wasn't fired by Savage. Crennel was fired by the owner of the Browns. Just because Crennel said he'd like to go back doesn't mean that the owner is going to allow it.
Could you please provide a link that Crennel tired to bring Mangini along? I am fairly certain that the only one that BB and Romeo agreed upon was Jeff Davidson.
