Default OT: ESPN -Parcells could opt out of Miami - return to Jets?

ESPN - Bill Parcells has opt-out clause, could walk away from Miami Dolphins

Interesting. Obviously he'd be leaving Miami on a high note, rebuilding that team as well as his reputation. One wonders if Parcell's ego would prompt him to want return to re-re-build the Jets or be in a position to take the ultimate rebuilding job in Detroit to cap off his career.

Either of those moves seems in keeping with his ego, so while this seems like pure speculation, I wouldn't rule it out.

Quote:
Parcells' contract specifically states only Huizenga can be in authority over him. Once Ross officially becomes majority owner, Parcells has to notify Ross within 30 days that he intends to exercise his walk-away clause and collect the full balance of $9 million.

At that time, Parcells would be a free agent. And any team that wants his services would not owe compensation to the Dolphins, according to the report.

Among the teams on Parcells' radar are the New York Jets, Detroit Lions, Cleveland Browns and the Oakland Raiders. However, if Parcells' son-in-law, New England Patriots vice president Scott Pioli, is interested in any of those jobs, Parcells is unlikely to wind up with that team, sources told Mortensen.
Part of the irony here for me is that as the Fins head into the playoffs there may be speculation of Parcells trying to set himself up for his next job. Sound familiar? (thankfully for the fins, he's NOT the head coach)

Yeah, Parcells probably has the nearest grocery store to every NFL franchise on speed dial

I wouldn't be surprised to see him in either Cleveland or Detroit. Hell, Detroit would probably fall all over themselves to score a name like that. I mean, considering their recent records, how could they possibly lose? Oh wait.....

I think Bill walks and takes his $9M. Back to ESPN for a little weekend work in the fall. He got cleaned out in his divorce a few years back, and now that his nestegg is built back up, I think he follows the ponies and chases the little white ball.

He did the same thing here in Dallas-he talked with Giants officials about their GM position in '06 BEFORE our meeting with them @The Meadowlands in Dec.

He's an ***.

Parcells & TO have one thing in common: They both "love me some me."

Why would he go to the Jets? They didn't fire Tannenbaum. He's going to come in and be Tannenbaum's boss again?

He likes the money and will do what gives him the most now. He is Casper. Welcome to the 96 Super Bowl Miami, not that they will get that far but I must admit I do like Chad.
