I was gonna say that Deltha is too busy being toasted right off the bat to jam the WR. But then again, I didn't know where you were going with the thread either.

What a misleading thread title. I said this yesterday. Is O'Neal the first CB ever to play press coverage and never jam the receiver at the line of scrimmage? The guy consistently got faked out on the first move yesterday. Hence why Roethlisberger picked on him so much.

yah i remember watching that when it happened, it was a pretty bad attempt at a jam...you know our pass D is going to suck if he is our #2 CB

Our pass D sucks primarily because of the utter lack of a pass rush. When our pass rush has been on par this season, we have SHUT DOWN offenses (take the Denver game for example). When the pass rush was non existant, we got picked apart. Still though, O'Neal sucks. There is a good reason why the BENGALS of all teams let him walk.

Thanks. I was only kidding... sorta.

I guess I didn't focus in on Hobbs, but did they let him press coverage as much as O'Neal? I think Hobbs is actually better at press coverage than he is at zone coverage. If they left Hobbs off the ball 120 yards like they usually do and made O'Neal do press coverage all day, I gotta question the coaching staff.

I saw at least three times where O'Neal played on the line and didn't even brush against the receiver he was covering. That is inexcusable.

BB was asked that after the chargers game and basically said the secondary's job is not to rely on the pass rush and allow runners go free or run by them , they still have to cover.
I agree our pass rush is bad but we also see DB's chasing WR's which isnt very good.
I think pats might do some significant changes upfront like play a 4-3 more to generate passrush. With AD out jarvis is better than the back LB's at pass rush. But again, BB doesnt sway from principles so remains to be seen.

I just hope people will remember plays like that the next time they start complaining about Pees not doing enough bump and run coverage.

Well, you obviously can't do it with O'Neal as one of the CBs.
