Default Mrs. Wilfork's DVD saved Vince from suspension [merged]

ESPN - DVD from Vince Wilfork's wife Bianca saved New England Patriots defensive tackle from suspension

Quote:
Commissioner Roger Goodell was poised to suspend New England Patriots defensive tackle Vince Wilfork due to his previous illegal hits over the past two seasons, but a DVD from the Patriots' video department saved him from at least a forced week off this season.

Wilfork's wife Bianca, who joined Wilfork for the meeting, handed Goodell the DVD with a different camera angle that showed Wilfork may not have hit Denver Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler in the head on a play in the Oct. 20 meeting between the Broncos and Patriots.

On the alternate DVD, Cutler could be seen picking himself up and patting Wilfork on the helmet after the play.

Wilfork started his meeting with Goodell admitting a hit to Buffalo Bills quarterback J.P. Losman last season was a cheap shot, but when the commissioner started to to review the alleged late hit on Denver Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler, Wilfork's wife handed the commissioner the new DVD.

Wilfork was fined $35,000 but not suspended.
Let me ask a dumb question. If there was obviously doubt about whether Vince hit Cutler, and Cutler pats Wilfork on the helmet after the play, why the hell was he fined?

I don't know, but if he did admit to that Losman hit being a deliberate cheap shot then I feel like a sucker for defending him.

Goodell had to appease Mike Shanahan.

JoePats...it's Jet/Ratdell...he HAS to go...we need to start a groundswell movement in this country to remove this biased sub-moronic waste from participation in ANY business related to the NFL

You actually believe what's being reported? It's contradictory.

Do you really think it went like this?

Vince: I admit to taking a cheap shot on Losman last year, but I swear, this year I didn't hit Cutler on purpose.

Goodell: Why should I believe you?

Ms. Vince: Here's the DVD proving it.

Goodell: You're right. You didn't elbow him to the head.

Vince: You see, I'm innocent.

Goodell: Well, I have to fine you anyway. You understand.

Vince: Huh?

Does anyone believe this anonymous source?

If I'm not mistaken, the Cutler play was on top of two other unnecessary roughness penalties in the same quarter.

lol, i really doubt Vince would go in and state that bluntly....

if he in fact did, i would assume it was b/c he thought doing so would help him right now, in the present

Color me completely skeptical about the alleged details, they're contradictory and do not make sense together. Either one or more is wrong or some essential piece of information is missing.

Uhh...what a bunch of bull**** coverage from ESPN, and media leakage from that poor excuse for a commissioner. I mean, can anyone doubt that this media outlet has purposefully killed the Favre story while playing up every possible anti-Pats story on its front page by now? And how the hell is Mortensen privy to what happens inside the meetings? I believe what he is reporting, but why is it being leaked? Why has Goodell not called Favre into his office for a chat? Why isn't he being investigated round the clock?
