Re: PFT - From Source: Wifork Fined, Not suspended
Most likely, Vince was able to bring a Patriots "coaching tape" that showed the shenanigans of the Broncos O line to try and justify his actions. I can't think of any other reason Patriot-hater Goodell would have for not giving Vince the boot. It had to have been obvious.

Honestly though, it sets a horrible precedent if Goodell suspended him. I would have been completely shocked if that came down.

Maybe that Goodell listened to Wilfork, and changed his mind based on Wilfork explaining what happened.
Goodell is like Cassel for you guys. You get an idea into your heads (Cassel sucks, Goodell biased) and it festers in there like a nest of maggots. Sometimes things are not the way you thought them, and sometimes things change.
Anyway, the idea that two wrongs make a right, and that it is okay to retaliate, is just plain silly.

Wilfork's a smart, well-spoken guy. I'm sure they talked football, and I'm sure Vince showed genuine regret about his actions.
Odds are, we're seeing fairness at work.
Also, to fuel the straight up Rojerk Twatell haters, he has to show more diplomacy going forward if he wants to save the league forking over dough to implement an arbitration system.

Whether Goodell is biased is of little account for me. The issue is competence. Well, more to the point, the issue is his lack of competence.

Flawed analogy...
first..I NEVER said Cassel was a bad QB...quite to the contrary..I was and still am more than willing to give Cassel the time he needs to develop into a good QB, which is what he is doing.
Jetdell is getting WORSE as his tenure continues...he's a kneejerk, Napoleanic bull in a china shop.
He IS a lifelong Jets fan
He IS a former Jet employee
He DID meet with Mangini the week before the Jets/Pats opener last year
He DID overlook Mangini's use of TWO cameras on the field versus the Patriots that BB asked him to remove.
He did DAMAGE the reputation of Bob Kraft, Bill Belichick and the Patriots organization with his obscene fine and forfeiture of a 1st round pick
He did sit by like a deaf mute the rest of last season as the media viciously attacked the Patriots from all sides, culminating in the rash of outright LIES vomited nationwide the week before the Super Bowl.
His Jet history is a BLATANT conflict of interest when it comes to handing down "decisions" concerning the Jets chief rival in the division. He should have left the "spygate/lie-gate" in the hands of an independent arbitrator.
The only thing "festering" is his rotten leadership of the NFL.
