Cassel doesn't do as well in the area of % int, here he is only the 5th best at 3.3 %. Losing out to of course to God 2.4%, Zolak, Bledsoe & Eason. But better than many others such as Flutie and Grogan.
The one are where Cassel is among the worst is sack % at 11.3 only Flutie and Hodson got sacked more often, but how much of that is the QB and how much of that is an o-line break down.

Interesting. I don't think the offensive woes are all Cassel, and this might help prove that. They need a better running game and a more consistent Oline. I'm praying the return of Neal and Ross help that. If Cassel gets a little more time and learns to pull it down just a smidge later after seeing a few more reads, this could be good. Not world beaters, but certainly up there in the AFC, which is floundering this year.
Love it. At least the coaching staff and some fans realize that 16-0 is the exception not the rule.
You know, if the team had gone through the regular season last year at 13-3 and won the Super Bowl before losing Brady this season, the anti-Cassel uproar wouldn't be so bad. Last year was so special. Gonna keep rooting for Cassel to help make this a special season, as well, albeit a bit different.

excellent post. Now can we back off the kid and give him a chance to succeed
Bingo. I was irritated with him last week, but that was a tall order. He should be up to snuff, but who else would give us a better chance to win? No one, says BB.

Apparently a rookie who could barely command the ship at SAN DIEGO STATE.

"I believe so. I think I've had the vote of confidence from the coaching staff all along. Otherwise, I wouldn't be in the position I'm in. Because we lose one game, I don't feel that I should be worried about my job, to be completely honest. We're 3-2 right now, we're one game back from Buffalo. I'm sure that there are a lot of teams wishing they were 3-2. Do we need to go out and have more production? Of course we do. That's what we're working toward right now. We're not 0-5 right now, I'll tell you that much. We're still working to get better. I'm still maturing every week. That's what we're going to work toward."
From Globes wesbite...................Matt's happy he's 3-2 with a cream puff schedule. He's happy he isn't 0-5. Happy to be in second place. This sounds terrifying.

Come on lets stop fooling ourselves. If we went back to before week one and said Brady would get hurt within 10 min of the season starting we would all be happy to be 3-2 right now. I am sure he didn't mean he was content to be just above .500 but that it is a good starting point. Keep this pace up and you will be 9-6 going into the last week with a chance at the playoffs. Ideally you would like to improve at some point and compete for a bye but for now I am OK with the pace.

I have seen the quote before. I don't find it terrifying, I find it honest. He is not happy about the two losses and he realizes the team including himself needs to improve. But the team could be 0-5. Many on this very board said if Brady went down week 1 and Matt Cassel was the QB we go from being the second undefeated team to become the second winless team. He has already proven those folks wrong.
Completion percentage and rating are misleading because to this point, Cassel's completions fall mostly under 10 yards from the line of scrimmage. Madden pointed out rightly that Cassel on third and ten never gets the ball past the sticks. He has had trouble throwing deep. He has trouble with intermediate throws (you see his missing Watson by ten yards on the last play of the game?). Heck, he even has troulbe with screens.
