I love him too. It didn't really hit me yesterday but when I watched the replays of the game on (don't kill me for this) ESPN, Mayo was either in or near every tackle on the game. He played great against KC the week before. Great, great pick and a good guy to build the new defense around in the coming years.

I hope he remains healthy...tread wear on a LB is only good up to a certain point. Bruschi and Vrabel define longevity, but they were benchwarmers for the better part of their first few years. I hope the Mayo stays fresh. (sorry)

Mayo was a great pick,i've said in other posts it seem like hes in on almost every tackle. And his speed I think he ran leon washington down from behind when Washington broke one over the rt side.I just hope he stays healthy . Because i think the great pick will turn into a great player.

relax guys...

i know we havnt seen a young guy on our D as a LB for quite a while...but Mayo is a work in progress...he had numerous mistakes agaisnt the jets, which led to 1st downs...

but he has the skills, and is learning more and more every day, so he will get real good as the season goes on...but right now is is slightly above average

I just wonder with him playing so central a role so quickly if he will hit the traditional rookie wall around game 11 (when college season ends); and we will lose MLB skills right when we need them for a playoff drive.

is there any GOOD way to manage his time and keep him steady without simply not playing him. I don't know.

Not have him play on special teams?

I like what I've seen so far as well, but after seeing Patrick Willis' pick-6 return yesterday I also wish we had been actively trading up into the previous draft to nab that guy!

I'm still not ruling out the Seau-at-the-bye-week plan so many of us have been predicting for months.

I'm not a great scout, so do we know how well he's playing based on watching the game?

If the tackles you are making are 8 yards from the LoS, it might not be that great.

I assume he must be doing well because he is on every play in every formation.

well, let me make it easier for you to be the LEAST bit optimistic for once...compare Mayo's start with that of Loner Goatston, the can't miss Rat LB prospect...any cause for optimism now?
