Angry Reveling in injuries [merged]

I was talking to a friend about what has happened with Brady's injury, as well as the gloating and absolute venom hurled at the Patriots organization for the past 12 months. Here is what he had to say, and I couldn't agree more:

"I'll say this. After last year's gloating over the pats' loss in the SB, this shadenfreude over Brady's injury means that I will never, ever for any reason have any sympathy whatsoever for fans of any other team."

There's competitive spirit, wanting to see your team win or the dragon slayed, but what we've seen is beyond contempt. At the bar I was at in Baltimore for instance, the entire bar was cheering after every replay of Brady's injury. Comments from people on sports blogs across the internet are similarly venomous.

I will never, ever forget or forgive this. It has tainted my perception of Americans irreparably.

I'm with you. I travel fairly frequently and I'm serious when I tell you that wearing a Patriots hat, t-shirt, jacket, etc. in an airport will lead to trouble. It is impossible to overstate the degree of hatred America feels of our team.

Default disgraceful reaction to Brady's injury....

I was at my usual favorite watering hole for the Patriots game down here in Orlando. When Brady went down and was clutching his knee, about 40-50 complete jackasses started cheering.....quickly followed by them singing "Na na na na.....Hey hey, goodbye!......I nearly came unglued. I know people around this country hate the Pats, but cheering when one of them gets injured has to be the most clear sign of how F'd up people have become.

I heard from someone at the Pittsburg game that they announced it and the crowd went wild.

The NFL is full of pricks, nothing new. Makes me glad to be a fan of this team who just bring it on the field.

I just got this email from a former college roommate:

Quote:
I was wondering if the sound of Brady's ACL snapping was synonymous with the Super Bowl hopes of the Pats snapping?
He's a Braves fan, I told him to eff off.

people take sports too seriously and are happy when other teams players are hurt. I never understood that. I don't wish injury on any players, even jet or giant players.

I have been on other, non football boards today and everyone is laughing becuase he got hurt. I can't believe most ignorant people.

Thumbs down Re: disgraceful reaction to Brady's injury....

The world has gone to hell in a handbasket, the fans who cheer injury have serious issues, unfortunately i suspect a high percent of fans cheered over Brady's injury, probably 70 percent or more, the human race is a disgraceful species overall. Shameful what football turns people into.

It's never been more apparent than during the Internet era, where ignorant people can spout their bull**** and not be held accountable for it. I really hate how jaded our society is.
