Thanks. Just once I would like to hear BB say something like, "we're cutting John today, but we'll be re-signing him in 2 weeks, so just chill the **** out, *****es."
That would make my day.

I think we should not be too surprised by Lynch getting released. We have seen this type of roster move before with the Patriots where a player gets cut and then reappears a week or two later. It might not work out that way, but I wouldn't be surprised if it does.
lets use common sense unless lynch showed in practice he cany play any more, which i dont think is the case, bb probably said we are 2 men down on the o line can you sit out the first week, you can learn the playbook, get your personal life settled, ie a apatment for his family etc, and well get you back in the 2nd week, he probably said no problem

Gets my vote for funny post of the year

My questions are - why not sign him in the preseason to a incentive ladden contract
and why is it assumed he is coming back to pay for less...
Its like , look we have to let you go this week to make payroll, but we will hire you back next week..
If that is the case 2 people are going to get cut, because we will need to cut someone in Kevin Faulk's spot..
Just confused by the whole thing..
The thing with John Lynch is simply a timing deal and BB/SP are playing it like the chess masters that they are.
The Pats have no intention of cutting Lynch and I'll wager that he gets as much playing time as Harrison.
They signed him to a deal of $1.5M,all-knowing that this high figure would be enough to keep the wolves at bay(Mangini),during the frenetic waiver signing period.
He sits for a week in a Route 1 motel, taking advantage of their exercise equipment and their 5pm early bird special.
After we thrash the Chiefs,Lynch resigns for 1M and takes on the hybrid/LB position, which BB is anxious to implement.
This was the unspoken deal from the get-go.The Pats knew that no one would have the time or precognition to offer more dough to Lynch plus guarantee his salary by putting him on the game 1 roster.
Lynch played very well in preseason,he picked up the system, quickly.Anyone who thinks other teams didn't notice this has blinders on.
BB wanted John Lynch.BB needed John Lynch. This was a very, very cool move by Beoli.

I was just about to post that this move should quell all the "hybrid LB/new defensive strategy" nonsense that was spewing forth as soon as Tank Johnson starting taking reps with the firsts in TC and then continued after Lynch was signed. I still think it is just an idea they are toying around with and nothing more. (and the idea isn't new at all-just the idea that you would use it in virtually any situation). But maybe BB has something up his sleeve.......

I'm getting prepared to eat my words(maybe)...............
WFAN in NY is reporting that the Jets are close to signing John Lynch.

........and the border war goes on....maybe
If true it makes things interesting. I subscribe to the theory that Lynch thinks he is a full time starter, and BB thought he was a situational / depth player. So they released him, with the idea that if no one else wanted him full time either, he had a spot as a backup in NE.
Looks like the Jets might be willing to play him full time.

I'm not surprised. I thought that it was stupid for the Pats to cut him in the first place, but what do I know?
