Default Great article showing the media bias against Belichick

This article perfectly sums up why the media rakes Belichick over the coals. He basically didn't want to give this guy some gossip sounbite about the Jets or Favre so now he hates him. What side do you think he will now take if there's another controversy with the Pats or BB? What a joke these people are.

As always, Patriots' Belichick has blinkers on

Bob Glauber
August 21, 2008

FOXBOROUGH, Mass.

Seeing as how the Jets made a somewhat significant trade recently - for a quarterback who eventually will go into the Hall of Fame - I figured Patriots coach Bill Belichick might have a thought or two about how said transaction might affect his team this year.

So recently I spoke with him off in a corner of the press box at Gillette Stadium. For some reason, I could tell this was not going to be an easy interview. I guess the stare was the first tipoff. The shrug was another.

So, any thoughts on Brett Favre? "He's a great player," Belichick said.

Now that Brett Favre is on board, how many games will the Jets win this year?

Long pause. Then this: "We're just trying to get our team ready for the season. That's what everybody's trying to do."

OK, let me go at this a different way. I ask Belichick about his experiences bringing in veterans from other teams, and the challenge it poses trying to get them ready for the season.

Good luck in Week 2, Mr. Favre.

The Pats haven't worn pads every practice.

Reiss has given in detail the breakdown between walkthrough pracrtices and full practices.

I'm pretty sure the Patriots have practiced in pads a lot more than most teams, so his point may be valid, but he hammers the idea that EVERY ONE of their practices have had full pads. Jut not true. As expected, from NY media (or from the network based in Bristol CT, for that matter)

I cant believe he ends the piece by saying good luck Farve in week 2 like he is routing for him to beat BB because BB wasn't a good interview...Way to stay impartial there dude.

I think his you need to go talk to the Jets if you want to write a story on them response was hilarious.

"As always, Patriots' Belichick has blinkers on." Do they mean blinders? Bill's a big guy, but I don't think he's required to wear blinkers.

I agree, Glauber is almost always in BB's court. The "Good luck in Week 2, Mr. Favre" seems more like a warning to the Jets.

I don't know. I guess I took it a different way. It seems that Glauber is complimentary to Belichick at the end and everything else is just showing how Belichick is only focused on his team and the season.

From the end of the article:

Quote:
And so it went for a coach whose laserlike focus is squarely on his own team. With more than two weeks left before the regular season, it is all business for Belichick. Any more questions about the Jets and their new quarterback, don't ask Belichick. Go see the Jets.

Good luck in Week 2, Mr. Favre.
I think from the article, Glauber and Belichick actually have a pretty good relationship at least as far as Belichick has with the media.

I think Glauber was stating that with Belichick so focused, Favre will have his hands full in week 2.

Yea this read as a complimentary piece on BB to me. And the good luck to favre definitely seemed like a warning to me.
