There are lots of decisions in the secondary. The following are free agents: Talib, Arrington, Cole, and Chung. WE need four contributors. IMHO, Talib is worth a lot to us.

This defense without Talib and Jones is completely different story, save that Dennard and Niko had some good plays this year thoughout. But Cole and Arrington is completely **** and yes, we have to bring back Talib, it's like watching two different teams playing defense with him in the DBs and without him.

IMO, you can put a line through Arrington, Cole and Chung. What's likely is Arrington and Cole will probably stick around because they can play Special Teams. #meh

I say pay Talib and get him on the squad for a few years. You dont get to acquire a stud CB like him without showing him the money. Our efforts to develop a CB like him have spanned several seasons without success.

How about Talib is still very young and yet to get into his prime? As long as he can stay trouble free off the field I don't see a reason why he shouldn't be back, he was our best DB

What makes me mad is that we have so many ST only players that are useless at properly giving depth on O or D.

The Patriots have been overachievers the past two years. It doesn't have the talent to compensate for injuries, and it wins so much because it puts in 99% effort in the regular season and plays with terrific schemes to mask its deficiencies.

But in the playoffs a good team at 99% will not beat emotional, talented teams that play at 100%. It's what happened against the Giants in 2011 and the Ravens in 2012.

I don't know if he will, but somebody will. The free agent CB class is fantastic.
Aqib Talib
Keenan Lewis - 6'1" first year starter for Steelers this year; 0 picks but 23 PDs
Sean Smith - Not his first year starting, but his first year contributing in a positive way; oh, and he's 6'4"
DRC - Belichick was reportedly a fan when he was a prospect (picked Mayo instead); is full of talent but is soft
Nnamdi Asomugha - Was terrible this year and bad the year before, but there's no denying the talent; under contract but could definitely be cut
Chris Houston - Smaller but talented, minor durability issues
Darius Butler - Not overly realistic, but he's a better fit for the man that the Pats want to play than the zone that got him cut
Brent Grimes - Low risk injury reclamation signing

Summary: Doesn't have to be Talib, but they need to do something.

Talib is a keeper. The final compromise on his contract should be to add some hefty playing time incentives to what is otherwise a bit of a lowball deal.
