During a conference call with the New England Patriots media on Wednesday, Los Angeles Rams head coach Jeff Fisher made some confusing remarks in regards to the Patriots running back corps.

It all started when Fisher was asked a question about the Patriots three top backs, LeGarrette Blount, James White and Dion Lewis.

“Well, they’re all different,” said Fisher. “I have a place in my heart for LeGarrette, because I gave him a start, and I have great respect for him. He’s a big back, and he’s hard to get down. And as they rotate through, different guys play in different situations, and they do a good job with it. He knows where the ball’s going to go, and the guys are very, very disciplined. “I’ve been impressed with Brandon and what he’s done out of the backfield. You’ve got to deal with him, in addition to Danny. You’ve got playmakers all around, so we have to play sound defense.”

Danny? As in Danny Woodhead who was released from the Patriots in 2013 and is currently out for the season in San Diego?

Upon further research, Fisher even played against Woodhead’s current team in 2014.

It didn’t end there. Fisher then went on to say, “I’ve been impressed with Brandon and what he’s done out of the backfield. You’ve got to deal with him, in addition to Danny. You’ve got playmakers all around, so we have to play sound defense.”

Brandon? As in special teamer Brandon Bolden who hasn’t seen a carry in an NFL game since Week 4?

While it is entirely possible Fisher was thinking the of the right players but saying their names wrong, it is not the best look for a coach who’s team is currently 4-7 and is only four days away from kickoff. Rams fans can only hope he wasn’t watching tape from the 2012 Patriots.

In his last two meetings versus New England, Fisher has been outscored 104-7, including the memorable 59-0 snow bowl thrashing in his last appearance in Foxboro back in 2009.
