Earlier this week, it initially appeared David Andrews time as a New England Patriot was over.

In preparation for what seemed to be his free agency departure, the Patriots brought back Ted Karras to replace him at center and teammate Julian Edelman even wrote a goodbye message in his Instagram story. By mid-week, at least three teams reportedly showed interest in Andrews’ services.

However everything changed by Thursday night, as Andrews would instead agree to a four-year contract to stay in Foxborough with the team that signed him as an undrafted free agent out of Georgia in 2015.

On Friday, Andrews confirmed the news with a post to Instagram featuring his face implanted on an iconic scene from the movie “Wolf of Wall Street”

“Go Pats”, Andrews wrote in an accompanying caption.

On Saturday, full details of Andrews contract were reported by The Boston Globe’s Ben Volin and it appears to be a bargain for the Patriots.

Despite taking less money over any potential offers on the open market, Andrews “loved” the Patriots too much to go anywhere else according to Kim Jones of NFL Network.

After news of his Patriots return was complete, Julian Edelman poked fun at his own premature goodbye with a funny tweet featuring Andrews in a gif from “The Simpsons”.

With Andrews back in the fold at center, the Patriots offensive line looks to be a strength heading into 2021 despite the loss of Joe Thuney to the Kansas City Chiefs.

The projected starters are as followed, LT Isaiah Wynn, LG Michel Onwenu, C David Andrews, RG Shaq Mason, and RT Trent Brown.

As for the rest of the depth chart, the Patriots have C Ted Karras, OT Justin Herron, OT Yodny Cajuste, OT Korey Cunningham, G Ross Reynolds, C/G Marcus Martin, and G Najree Toran are also on the roster heading into training camp.

In 72 career games with the Patriots, Andrews has logged 69 starts and has been named a team captain four-times.
