With the 2020 NFL Draft set to get underway, the photoshopping talents of Julian Edelman’s social media team made a return Thursday.

The former seventh round draft pick out of Kent State in 2009, Edelman was a quarterback in college (obviously), but head coach Bill Belichick had other ideas in mind.

Edelman wound up drafted as a wide receiver and would go on to become one of the most dominant playoff performers at the position over the next ten years.

Following the 2019 season, Edelman ranks second all-time in playoff receiving yards, trailing only Jerry Rice for most all time.

Edelman poked fun at his draft day with his face cropped onto a picture of Brett Favre celebrating his own back in the early 90’s along with the following caption;

“Listen coach, I’m the best arm talent in this draft. I’m a gunslinger. That’s all there is to it. I’m gonna make some throws you didn’t think were possible. What’s that? You drafted me at receiver? I see.”

Despite becoming an NFL receiver, Edelman has shown off his arm on a few occasions during his career.

Across the regular and postseasons, Edelman is 5-for-7 passing for 141 yards and two touchdowns.

Here is the original, now-iconic photograph of Favre getting the call back in 1991, jorts and all.
