Praising and complementing the next opponent on the schedule has become a staple of how the New England Patriots prepare under head coach Bill Belichick, but Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Telvin Smith isn’t buying into what’s been said about his team this week from the team in Foxboro.

On Monday quarterback Tom Brady stated that the AFC Championship is “the biggest challenge we’ve faced all year,”  but Smith believes the opposite thought process is actually going on.

In a retweet of the Brady quote, Smith shared a message along the lines where he feels the Patriots are actually disrespecting the Jaguars behind closed doors in the locker room and not publicly as say the Steelers did to his team a week earlier.

The Jaguars of course, used the Steelers overlooking their next opponent and chatter about the Patriots instead of the Jags as motivation during their upset at Heinz Field.

Whatever it may be, and whatever Smith believes, the Patriots haven’t changed their approach, with head coach Bill Belichick on Wednesday dishing out even more praise, calling Smith’s defense “top of the league in everything, starting with turnovers, sacks, negative plays and points, you name it. They are very good in the kicking game. They are aggressive. They have a good return team with Mickens and Grant. They have a good coverage group, good specialists.”

“I think we’re going to have to play our best game of the year,” Belichick later said.

In Smith’s defense, its difficult to find bulletin board material when you face the New England Patriots, they could make the Jets sound like a Super Bowl contender, but to convince yourself a team is talking trash when nothing indicates they are is an interesting approach to get yourself motivated.

However Smith should probably have a word with teammate Jalen Ramsey when it comes to premature Super Bowl predictions, light hearted or not. Now this could qualify as bulletin board material.
