Patriots Announce 2017 Hall Of Fame Finalists

🕑 Read Time: 1 minutes

On Friday, the New England Patriots announced the three finalists for the 2017 induction into the teams Hall of Fame at Patriot Place.

This year’s finalists include cornerback Raymond Clayborn, defensive lineman Richard Seymour and linebacker Mike Vrabel.  Clayborn is a finalist for a fourth straight year, Vrabel is a finalist for the second straight year, while Seymour is a first-year eligible finalist.

Seymour and Vrabel were key contributors to a Patriots defense that helped bring three Super Bowl championships in four years back to New England and both were named to the 50th Anniversary and 2000’s all-decade teams.

Seymour was named to five straight Pro Bowls with the Patriots from 2002-2006 and earned four straight first team All-Pro honors from 2003-2006. Vrabel earned Pro Bowl and NFL All-Pro honors following the 2007 season after registering 12½ sacks and was named a team captain four times. His most memorable moments came in Super Bowls XXXVIII and XXXIX when he caught a touchdown pass from Tom Brady in both games.

Clayborn was selected to the Patriots 1970’s and 1980’s all-decade teams and is tied with cornerback Ty Law with a team-record 36 career interceptions.  His 555 interception return yards are second in franchise history to Law’s 583. During his 13 seasons with the Patriots, he helped the Patriots to 10 winning seasons, including four postseason berths.  He also set a franchise record by playing in 161 consecutive games, a record that still stands.
