New England Patriots wide receiver Mohamed Sanu had a rather forgettable 2019 season.

After an October trade to the Patriots from the Atlanta Falcons, Sanu appeared to be immediately worth the second round pick given up for his services.

Sanu had ten receptions for 81 yards and a touchdown against the Baltimore Ravens in his second game.

A week later against the Philadelphia Eagles, Sanu sustained an ankle injury while on special teams and it severely limited his production down the stretch.

Sanu averaged less than three receptions the remainder of the season and had zero touchdowns.

Back on May 31st, Sanu had his walking boot removed for the first time since offseason surgery to repair the ankle.

Since that time, Sanu’s trainer Hilton Alexander has been publicly raving about his fast recovery progress.

“I would tell you he’s probably faster, quicker, leaner and in better shape now than prior to the surgery,” Alexander told ESPN’s Mike Reiss. “I would say he’s way ahead of any doctor’s knowledge or prediction where he would have been at this point. Way ahead of the curve.”

Sanu was also spotted working out with Cam Newton last weekend out in California.

You can see more of Sanu’s progress for yourself below as he has posted workout videos nearly everyday this week.

Speaking with The Game 92.9 in Atlanta last week, Sanu held nothing back about his feelings towards last season.

“It is what it is. When you’re a top elite athlete you’re supposed to adjust and pick it up. It was tough at first and adversity hit, but it is what it is. Right now, I am where I want to be. I didn’t play the best that I felt like I could have last year and that is on me. I internalized that and that’s fine. I accepted it, just know I am not letting that [expletive] happen again.

If Sanu can stay healthy, a formidable trio of himself, Julian Edelman and N’Keal Harry could go along way to helping get the Patriots back to the playoffs in 2020 with a new quarterback.
