You may remember six years ago the New England Patriots signed Pro-Bowl wide receiver Chad Johnson (then Ochocinco) to a one year contract and heading into training camp fans had high expectations he would become the next big time deep threat for quarterback Tom Brady.
The 2011 season tuned out to be a complete disaster for Johnson, as he caught just 15 passes for 276 yards with one single touchdown reception. Playing in his first career Super Bowl later that season, Johnson remained a non-factor with just one catch for 21 yards in a 21-17 loss to the New York Giants.
2011 was his least productive season as a professional, with many claiming Johnson failed to fully grasp the Patriots offensive playbook and was released following the season. Johnson’s NFL career ended a season later in 2012 after being released from the Miami Dolphins following an arrest.
On Twitter Sunday, Johnson reflected back on his final full NFL season of struggles in a self-deprecating and humorous but also motivational tweet for his nearly four million followers.
I really love you guys & hope your day is going well, if it's not going well just remember nothing is worse than my stats w/ the Patriots.
